Frozen everything made it different
We had a snow storm coming in and I had an itch to get and and play. I went in and played a quick 9. I was the first one out played the 9 in an hour and twenty.
3 temp tee boxes
Fun day...hard to play today...played a few holes with frost. Hard to putt no ball flight...not much mud to speak of. Did have to tee off of three different mats...killed those holes for me. One on 13 was in a really dumb spot.
Best Muni Value!
I have played Meadow Park for the last 30+ years and I can say WITHOUT A DOUBT, it is the BEST golf experience/value for the money ANYWHERE in the country!!! Please don't get my statement confused with The Best Course, I am only talking about what you get for your money. I have played courses with $240+ green fees, but still I don't feel I got $240+ worth of value. The most I have ever paid at MP was $37 in the Summer on a Sat/Sun. The course is well established and never wet, even after periods of extreme rain, the course is challenging enough for the moderate to low handicapper, new driving range features with Top Tracer, new expanded practice putting greens. MP is my go to GC, when I want to get a round in, but not interested in dropping $50-60, normally I pay around $22-24 twilight rates and still getting 18-holes in. The clubhouse is adequate bar/grill, great bar food and service is good. I have golfed a Muni's all over and for the Tacoma/Seattle area you won't find a better Muni, for the exception of Gold Mountain.
My home course
Not too hard...Fun layout...great practice facilities...great municipal course. The course is fantastic and will make you use every club you have in the bag!
Great Community Golf Course. Good Challenge yet fair to play. Typically good greens, Will be back.
Right price and great winter play
Not the longest, not the most difficult, but definitely a great course for the money. Well maintained, quick greens, and a great spread from gold tee boxes to blacks it creates a perfect challenge for any golfer.
Lots of trees....
This is pretty fun course. This was only the second time I have played it, and the first that wasn't in the prime of summer conditions. Greens were in good shape despite the rains, faster than I would have expected. Fairways were great. It isn't necessarily a narrow course, but the trees can give you some trouble if you hook or slice off the fairways. And since every tree here is old and developed, good luck advancing the ball into play. Scoring opportunities abound on the course if you are a longer hitter. I would definitely play again.
Greens in good shape
Meadow Park Golf Course was in good shape after all the rain we had during the days before. Greens where quick and the fairways were well groomed.
love the trees nice course great greens
this is a must play i love the lay out has some easy holes and some hard holes allways have fun and allways look foward to playing it again
Great Municipal Course for the Money
Meadow Park's 18 hole course is a great challenge for any skill level and has a great mix of holes in terms of where you need to hit the ball off the tee box in order to have a good look at the green on your approach shot. The rough is cut to a good length, meaning that even if you do find the tall grass, you will typically have a good chance of still advancing the ball up the fairway. There are a lot of trees on this course, but the fairways are not narrow by any means. Just because the fairways are forgiving doesn't mean a driver is needed more than a handful of times though. I have played this course several times and typically only hit driver 4-5 times. Many of the Par 4s require some form of shot shaping and only required 22-240 yards in order to take a shorter iron into the greens. Granted, many players may want to hit a wedge in this situation, but just know that you don't really need to get after it on the tee box. There are several holes where hitting a driver will get you in trouble if you do hit dead straight. One thing I don't like about this course is the first Par 3 on the back 9...I believe it's hole 12 or 13. It only requires me to hit an 8 or 9 iron, but the pin placement is always back left and is completely obstructed by overgrown trees that require some serious trimming. If Meadow Park is not careful, it won't be too long before only the right side of the green will even be visible from the tee box.
Overall, this is a great course to play if I just want to get out with friends and have a good time. It isn't the most challenging course in the Tacoma area, but I have always enjoyed it, and will continue to go back.
Note: STAY AWAY from the Williams 9 hole course. It is not fun, the greens are not maintained at all, and the fairways are essentially just backyard grass. I wouldn't play it again if Meadow Park paid me to.
decent course for the money
The back nine is beautiful. Great course contours. Fun tee shots. Perfect course for the average driving distance golfer. Greens easily reachable within regulation. One downside is that there is virtually no water on the course (except for a drinking fountain on the 17th)so bring your own hydration.
Nice SLOW round
I enjoyed my Saturday afternoon (2-7pm) round but the pace of play was super slow. I saw one marshal ("players assistant") between the 6th and 7th holes and he didn't say anything about pace of play.
Very Good Muni Course
Meadowpark GC is kind of like the girl who lived next door in high school; you'd walk to school together, hang out occasionally, and every so often, actually go out on a real date. Just like that girl you took for granted, but usually had a good time being with, Meadowpark GC is reliably fun to spend time around. It's definitely a blue-collar golf course, with none of the amenities of the "premier" clubs...but it is well-maintained, challenging, and provides a relaxing 18 holes on a weekend afternoon without sucking your wallet dry.
Slow play can be an issue, and because Meadowpark relies on volunteer course marshals there isn't a lot of "external motivation" for dawdling groups to keep up the pace. But when the weather is nice, and the snack shack is open for a mid-round beer and hot dog, it's easy to chill out and enjoy the day.
Great experience.
A great layout that is fun and requires every club in your bag. This course will help you develop your course management skills. (Doglegs,Tree lined fairways, sloping fairways, elevated greens, risk/ reward par 4's, tee-shots over gouges...) In addition, the greens were firm and in great shape. Obviously, I enjoyed the course!
course well maintained, tuff holes on the back
Have played the course many times from the blue and the black tees. A good course to play for any level of golfer. The front nine is pretty easy, with a tough stretch of holes going to the back. One of my favorites!!!!!
Second
Great course. Great staff. Well maintained with plenty of opportunities to challenge you. Unfortunately, the biggest challenge was seeing the flags. They are all green, and blend into the backdrop. Our whole group had the same complaint. Change the flag or pole to a color, other than the nature scene. Otherwise, it was fun.
Great value for a local course in great shape.
The course was in good condition with plenty of green, well-groomed grass and very few dead spots. The course has a mixture of easy and challenging holes to keep you guessing. It isn't simple to figure out the distance to the pin so be prepared to do a little guessing. Overall, it is a great value and a fun course without big crowds.
Fun to play
Course was in pretty good shape. Greens were a little slow but there was a lot of recent moisture.
Nice course with excellent green fee with golfnow.com
Nice course with excellent green fee.
Good location too.
Very good condition. Nice variety of holes.
Fun course to play. Good variety of holes. Some long and some shorter; some right to left doglegs and some left to right; some water and ravines; tall tree-lined fairways but not too narrow; and enjoyable to walk. The longest tees play only 6150 yards so a better course for the duffer to average golfer. I will play this course again.
