Amery Golf Club

About
Located an hour northeast of St. Paul, Amery Golf Club is located in what is known as the "City of Lakes," and so naturally water has a prominent role throughout the course. Built in 1922, the golf course is one of northwestern Wisconsin's premier courses. It has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling hills though it is still a very walkable course. You'll find water coming into play on half of the 18 holes, along with tricky doglegs, forced carries, and a slew of strategically placed bunkers. The diverse landscape of woodlands, wetlands, and hills provide plenty of variety among each hole. Amery Golf Club's 10th is a particularly memorable hole that sits wedged between two bodies of water and it also offers a stunning view.

Beautiful tough course
The course was in great fall shape. Greens are fast and hard to read. Bring your A game for this one.
Nice course.
Nice course. Unfortunately I booked a tee time when there was a league. Play was a little slow but that's expected with league on the course. I wasn't playing well at all that day, but it was still fun.
Great local course
Amery Golf is a very nice challenging Lay-out. A couple quirky holes, but all in all a nice course.
Played behind an 8some
This course allowed 5 eightsomes to play and then sent out other groups after. We played the front side twice so we could finish 18 holes in less than 5 hours. Saturday is not the time to allow this to happen, poor management.
Frustrating round
We arrived 10 minutes before our tee time, checked in and were told we could go. Only to find 2 foursomes and a single waiting on the first tee. The lady working there said they were "members" who were playing a match but must be going off early. She suggested we go off the back 9. So we drove there, only to find 2 more foursomes of "members" who admitted they didn't have a tee time and saw the back 9 open. So we went back to the clubhouse where there was now another 4 foursome waiting on the first tee. The lady suggested we play the 9th hole and maybe the 10th might be open by then. We asked for our money back, but she said she didn't know how to do that as it was a GolfNow reservation. So we ended up jumping around and played 13 holes in about 4 hours mostly behind "members".
Course layout is a mixed bag. Some pretty holes, but overall it is a very short course. All of the par 5s are doglegs with big bends. But it's very easy to drive through the fairways and bends off the the tee on 3 of them (less than 220 yards).
Course conditions were also mixed. The greens were in great shape. Fairways spotty, looked like fungus issues and some of the tee boxes were almost 100% crab grass.
I can't recommend and will likely not ever play there again. If they don't honor tee times and it's a free-for-all, it's not worth the hour drive up there.
A must
Is a must play course , wether your passing by or are in town
Excellent Course
Plenty of water to deal with. Greens are big and well taken care off but are a bit slow. Overall excellent course to play.
Nice Course
This is a nice course and seems to be well maintained. There is a lot of water on this course so you may lose a couple of balls. The course is challenging yet plays fair. We would go back again.
Amery Golf Course
Plenty of challenging holes, trees and water , greens are in great shape but played a bit slow. Will play it again with friends. I played alone , when I came to other groups they let me play through with no hesitation,
This couse has great features.
Very challenging par 5's. Water to negotiate on several holes. Greens large and in beautiful condition. Good course management is imperative.
Excellent Course
Even though they had about 5 inches of rain the day before it was excellent play with a few wet areas.
Greens are excellent, in fact the entire course is excellent for the price. The best course in the area.
Nice greens.
Greens were excellent. Course conditions were rough, but in all fareness a lot of rain fell that morning. Fairways fair. Lots of bends and doglegs to go with water that comes into play on half the course.
Nice course
First time at Amery.....nice course with a few challenges. Enjoyed it very much
Love Amery
I enjoy making the trip to Amery 3 to 5 times a year. The best value I know.
Fun course
It's very early in the season here but the course was in decent shape for spring golf. Pace was good greens again good for early golf. Had fun with a group.
nice course
This is a joy to play. Traditional layout with fantastic greens. Not long or difficult, it requires good shot making and good course management.
