Dont take for granted
Don’t take this short course for granted. If you are not good with wedges or have problems hitting it straight, this course will eat you alive!!
There are plenty of obstacles to give you more than enough grief!
Plenty of overhanging trees. The roughs are brutal. If you hit one out of bounds don’t even try to find it. Creek separating two of the holes.
It’s not in the best of shape tho. T boxes, and fairways are not well kept.
The greens are ok.
Be prepared.
Shop and grill folks polite and friendly
Always Enjoyable
This would not be considered a challenging course to many experienced players, but nestled into the edge of the mountains it is a very pretty and relaxing way to play a round of golf. The staff is always pleasant, kind and considerate; and I have yet to meet/be paired with anyone but the nicest people in golf. My golf partners and I bounce around to various Bay Area courses, but we always find our way back to Deep Cliff.
unique short course in silicon valley
I needed a place to play with out-of-town friends and I am also from out of town. We had an 8 am time on Saturday, we walked, probably went a bit slower than we could have (our fault) and finished the mostly par 3 and certainly not long few par 4 18 holes in about 4 hours.
, it is a unique and scenic place nestled in the foothills. It has lots of trees and water which makes it interesting. I love long irons and short irons and this course is perfect for this. I left my driver, 3 wood in the trunk. You can play this course easily with 4 clubs. Greens were soft, recently punched and sanded but clearly in good shape. traps were good.
The reviews I read in advance were mixed. Anyone who thinks it is a bad course needs to appreciate it for what it is. Yes some t boxes are designed to play off mats. If the , mats were replaced,it woudl be fone.
Solid for the money after 3pm
Can get backed up on a nice day.. Bunch of part
3 and 4s. Fairways are real narrow too but greens are nice.
Enjoyable course that tests shot accuracy off the tee.
Greens were well groomed and smooth, but rough areas around the greens had many ruts and weeds. Fairways were quite soggy in spots.
Well Maintained Course
Deep Cliff is a classic short 18. Well groomed greens. And putting too. Summer time longer play is a common thing. So bring your patience. Avg play time will be about 4 hours. However it’s golf and gold. So come to play and kill some of that wait time with a couple brews.
interesting....
By far the most interesting golf course I've ever been to. I only decided on this course because of it's decent ratings. The other players were just goofy and taking so long on purpose not fixing the divots or the crazy digging spots they made. There was no one to tell them anything. Every single hole is next to each other so just know you can get hit by balls at any given point. You can't even be ready because no one yells fore. Greens were only okay by the time you get close to the hole. Other than that all you'll see is sand, dirt, goose feces, and trash. Sometimes finding the tee box is hard.
I'll never come back here again.
This is a short course that will test you on every hole
Hidden Gem
A great walking course. The course reminds me of a shorter, smaller Sequoia Woods. Cannot wait to get back for another round.
Condition nearly perfect
Friend has been wanting to play this course after seeing so many people getting hole in one. This course is a perfect course to practice your irons and narrow fairways. The condition is nearly perfect, some of the tee boxes are under repair. Green is perfect btw! Would definitely play here again!
Lots of work to do
I played here a lot about 10 years ago and the return was an anticipated event. Sorry to say, the course was in disrepair with tee boxes closed or bare, fallen trees on the course and in Stevens Creek, and piles of wood chips and debris scattered about. The greens were in good shape, if slow and spongy. Some traps had been turned into sod bunkers and the course was generally easier than I remember it. It's still a fun little course to play but it could be a gem with some attention and investment.
