Old School Golf
This is a course for a player that prides himself or herself on being able to control their ball. The course is relatively short, but to make up for that it is challengingly narrow with very old timber on every hole. There are no wide open "let it go" holes, but I can assure you that the reward for a well struck shot will be felt in your sole, and it will produce a smile that you will carry for the whole day.
There are only 3 level lies on the entire course and I have yet to find only 2 of them, having said that it is what a good golfer is looking for, a challenge to every shot. Greens are small and very very undulating. NEVER be high of the hole on any green...never! Bunkers need some work, but all in all, this course is fun, satisfying, and the views from the clubhouse newly constructed patio overlooking Lake Mendota are absolutely breathtaking!
When in Madison this course is an "must" to play. Find a member or ask your pro to call the Pro at Blackhawk CC for reciprocity play and I promise you, you will remember the experience for a lifetime.
