Portage Country Club

About
Portage Country Club is situated along the scenic shores of Swan Lake. Opened in 1930, the golf course has a traditional layout that is both challenging and playable. At 6,356 yards from the back tees, it is shorter than most championship courses you will find today but the layout still has plenty to offer besides length. There is a mix of holes that are wide-open and some that are framed by stands of mature trees. The rolling terrain provides subtle but tricky undulations in the greens and fairways as well as the occasional double-tiered green. One of the most memorable holes for both its level of difficulty and the scenery is the par-4 third. This no. 1 handicap hole plays along the lake and forces you to keep a close eye on the target.

Not much to talk about
This course might have been nice 20 years ago, but it isn’t a course I’ll regularly play. It’s a short drive and that’s the only reason I play here. Good grass is hard to come by. Old carts and lack of staffed bev carts…. The back 9 is a better play than the front. Value wise saddle ridge is a better play.
Portage golf club
My wife and I played the coarse, and throughly enjoyed it. We have played a lot of coarse , but we thought this was one of our top 5 .
Hard to follow but fine course
I’m usually not easily confused on how a course flows but there were a couple spots that had me back- tracking. 8/11 tee boxes were together pointing separate directions. This wasn’t clear until I accidentally cut in front of the group in front of us. The ladies tee box on 8 was more visible.
Other than that, a good time. Standard mid-Wisconsin course. Not fancy.
Not a country club
Course was not well maintained or managed. They double booked us, and pace of play was slow as a result. Greens were OK, albeit a little shaggy and the fairways were only slightly green. some very target golf holes that didn't make much sense...
They closed the course and I didn’t get to play , PCC sucks
Portage Golf
Loved this old school country club course...some holes were very challenging and very close to other holes but a very fun round to play! Staff was very accomodating and friendly....Can't beat the specials they have to play!
Love the restaurant that overlooks Silver Lake....great food too!
Would definitely come back again.
a great place to golf
I really like Portage Country Club. It is a somewhat challenging course. There are some 90 degrees holes, some other dog legs, as well as a few holes that you have to hit over swamp land. It is a good course, a good location looking over a lake for some holes, and inexpensive. I definitely recommend Portage Country Club.
Good course, great price
This course has some challenging holes, but a great price. It also has a driving range, practice range, practice green, restaurant, and store. And is located on the shore of a big lake. We worth playing.
