Great Layout
Fantastic layout! Everything was in great shape and the greens were fast and smooth! Hope to play again soon!
Stay out of the rough
Course was in great shape. Greens had been top dressed recently, but didn't affect putting. Fast and smooth. Fairways were great and you need to be in them to avoid the thick Bermuda rough. Balls have no chance of sitting up in it. They sink down and knuckleball fliers are a result. Course is very playable from the ~6,500-yard white tees. Always a treat to play this private track.

Shot values abound
The Champions Tour plays a major championship here each Spring and my round was part of the volunteer package. Greystone is a pleasure to play due to the scenic beauty of the holes. Babbling brooks are a predominant feature throughout, so you have to be mindful at all times. Length off the tee is a big advantage here, particularly on the par 5s, which are reachable for better players. The bent greens are spectacular. As a Tour site, this club is equipped to handle the daunting effort required to keep Bent greens healthy in the brutal Deep South summers. Highlights of this course are the par-4 third hole, with its' brilliant stone bridge; the par-5 13th, home to a spectacular second shot; and the par-3 14th, a shortish hole to a pitched green with a stone wall bracing the green from one of those babbling brooks. Finally, the par-5 18th usually requires less than driver for better players to fit the tee ball between the creek and the end of the fairway. The second shot is all about risk/reward. Well-struck shots can find the green, but don't be left, as the creek borders that side of the green. There is plenty of bail-out room to the right. Greystone has one of the finest practice areas I have ever seen. And the pro shop has one of the best selections of apparel I've found.
