Course condition

The course is in terrible condition the fairways had been cut when the grass was way high and it looks like hay piles in fairways you can easily loose your ball under one of these hay piles. I heard the university is planning on closing the course for the construction of a new assembly center in at the course location so there isn’t any money being put into the course from the university. No drinking water nor ball washes on the course the greens were below average. I don’t recomend this course. It use to be great a few years ago but not now. Unless you are a student and don’t have anything else to do I would find another place to play

Bad shape

Not sure where all the LSU money goes, but it is definitely NOT the golf course. Bad shape all around. From the carts to ball washers, posted hole markers, landscaping… all in a bad state of disrepair. Save your money! Couldn’t even get a picture in front of the “clubhouse” it was so faded out.

Greens terrible, grass throughout course was apparently cut when it was well past due and left hay where it laid and past due for another cutting and staff member working the course driving around harassing us about carts needing to be turned in at 6:30pm when it was 5:45pm with 2 holes left to play. (It gets dark at 8pm)

Actually rode through the course practicing. If I was playing completely probably wouldn't have played this course because everyone knows the green are terrible. The greens are much better than the last time I played here though.

LSU golf course

Loved the course. Layout is great, a little confusing for the first time, but will be easy next round. Course was in great shape for winter (especially tee boxes).
My only complaint is with the signage, and tee areas. Many signs showing layout of hole etc were missing (poles were still in the ground) and all the ball washers were broken. I would think a course associated with LSU would have the funds to keep these things fixed. Maybe they will be in the spring.
Oh, and the driving range is great as well, very good price.

Not Bad

The course conditions are not great and your ball will get lost in the rough. The golf carts are ok but for the price you pay and the layout of the course it’s not bad for beginners to intermediate players. If you’re looking for a good course to play this isn’t it but if you just wanna play golf it’s great for that.

Sad course

I was wondering how we were able to have such an easy time selecting a tee time the day before Saturday until we showed up. The staff was super friendly and showed us some things to know about the course. The course itself, needs some TLC to put it nicely. This course is supposed to be a collegiate course but I wouldn’t pay more than $15 w/ cart for the level of upkeep. You would think it was abandoned if the doors were locked. It looks like they put no money into it. We were very displeased. Vending machines only. No hot dogs or alcohol available.

Trash

If there wasn’t a couple cars in the parking lot I would have thought it was abandoned. The course is ran down like a frat house. Not worth the money we spent. It’s a $15 course. No hot dogs at the turn. They only have vending machines. You’d think with it being on campus it would be kept up but it is not. We traveled over an hour to check it out and were severely disappointed.

The fairways and tee boxes were a disgrace.

This course does not need to be affiliated with LSU. The fairways and tee boxes were pitiful. I lost a couple of balls when I stripped the fairway because the grass was cut uneven and the old clippings looked like they were bailing hay. The greens were decent but the shape of the fairways and tee boxes set the tone for the round. Horrible shape.
You had to use long tees on the tee boxes ad the grass was so overgrown the short tees would not reach the top of the grass.

Not too good

First time I really didn’t enjoy playing LSU. Plenty of good grass that they just don’t cut. Spent most of the day looking for my golf balls around the fairways and greens. Greens were in good shape.

Bad Condition

I don’t know why I even go to this golf course still. Every couple of months I will go back because the location is convenient and I am disappointed every time. The green are half dead and you can lose your ball in the fairway because of all the lawn clippings. I really enjoy the layout of the course so it’s a shame they’re letting it go the way they are. At this point just put some money into the driving range and close the course.

Horrible conditions

Most holes had tons of mowed grass in the fairways. I lost 3 balls when I drove it down the fairway. I also found several balls looking for mine. No reason for that much dead grass to be left in the fairways. Half the greens had dead patches. Rough on quite a few holes were WAY over grown. Driving range is the best part of the course. Practice putting green is in terrible shape.

Convenient location - poor condition

Driving range is great, good value too. The rest of the course is in poor condition. One of the greens on the front 9 was in pretty good shape, the rest were abysmal. Still a great day on the course, just rough condition compared to many other courses in the state. Back 9 was closed this week due to survey work. Staff was super friendly!! Despite the condition of the course, we’ll be back. Hopefully the condition is more of a “work in progress” rather than the norm.

Rough

Quite possibly the worst course I have ever played. more than half of the tee boxes don't have any markers and all of them had grass so tall that your driver drags on them. The fairways were also overgrown and I lost multiple balls because I couldn't find them. The greens needed to be trimmed as well as it felt like a shag carpet when I was putting. Overall the course is in really poor shape and I know it's not the employee’s fault as they don't get the funding from the school to keep the course up. Hopefully they get better funding soon.

Challenging Course

LSU course challenges your ability to hit the fairways. Roughs are thick and can easily encompass your ball. Lots of trees, bushes, ditches, and ponds. Greens are in great shape except part of 9 and 14. Tiger Stadium and Alex Box are in clear view while playing. Great college course.
