Fun renovation
With more courses closing, reducing turf, and generally struggling it is a pleasure to see one move in a positive direction. The redesign and renovation actually created a more interesting layout than the original, saved acres of non-playable turf (and the course lots of $), while offering a enjoyable day of golf. Fairways still need some grow in and work, but the staff appears dedicated to getting all areas of play in their best shape ever.
Love this spot, especially for the cost!
Really a fun course. One of the best kept secrets in San Diego. Easy to get on, nice greens. $1 beer with your reciept after the round. I like taking my kids here and my friends. Great value. Owner couldn’t be cooler
Good day
Upon arrival we found out the course offered a deal that was much better than the "great deal" on Golnow. We would have saved $25 using the course deal (same price as golf now PLUS a free golf cart). The greens were in good shape and extremely fast. Twosomes were the norm and we never had to wait. Tee boxes could use some help as they were bumpy and had bare patches. The fairways also could use some grass. BUT with the pace of play and the deal through the course we will return.
Lots of dead grass
Fairways and tee boxes were in poor condition. Greens were in good condition. Layout of the course was great, it has potential be a great course.
Golf Now
Great course for the money…very challenging. Greens were in great shape. Pace was perfect! No complaints…
Overbooked
Nice course. Overbooked. 30 minute late start from tee time Ten minute wait on each hole. Almost four hours on front 10 holes This has happened a few times here. Will not return
Very good value for winter conditions
The course is a really nice layout with many challenging holes - little tough to navigate in places. Driving range works to warm up but otherwise a Ittle sketchy. Fairways, keeping in mind this not a $200 CC, were in typical OS condition this time of year - you need to play clean and place in a number of areas. Greens were in remarkably nice conditon and very puttable. Tees were Heavily sanded but we had no trouble finding good tee placements. Staff were very nice and approachable. Didn't eat but they do serve food and have a very well stocked bar. Be reasonable in your expectations and this is a good value. We will almost certainly play it again.
Disappointing
Everything about this course, facility & staff was underwhelming. Would not recommend and will not return after this disappointing experience.
Great value, stimulating course.
While not as well kept as other courses with many owners and plenty of donors, the course layout and difficulty make this course very fun. Normally the staff is quite friendly, wasn’t as much the case this last time, but would still recommend playing this course at least once if you’re in the area.
Only if you’re desperate
Uneven tee boxes covered with sand
Gopher holes everywhere
I’d rather play national city
great for practice
this is definitely a course for the common people. course conditions aren’t the best but you can still hit off fairways and roll in your putts on solid greens. Variety of holes are definitely challenging and fun. Great place to go with your buddies and none of this pish posh behavior. Definitely come over and have fun
Ugh
Last minute booking- I should have known.
Went with my coworker and his dad and brother.
I set it up.
It was just bad. Extremely slow pace. Every hole/ every shot/ every tee box….. you felt the wait. The 3sum in front of us were drinking a ton and quit after 10. The 2sum behind us were decent golfers like us but I just felt bad knowing they were waiting. It’s very hilly so they don’t know if we are waiting because we thought we were good or looking for a ball- or we were waiting for it to clear. The carts were whack and the path (off road gravel) made it a mission to keep everything inside the cart every 10 yards. The staff was definitely friendly and I booked a Sunday 10AM round on Saturday mid day- but for 70 bucks, I’d rather shart my pants in traffic and manage the next 5/6 hours of the day than go back there and hit off dirt, take tee shots with 7 people waiting for you- after waiting 15 mins, and hear the word “fore” like they heard the word” grenade” in Vietnam in a 5 hour span. I’m 35, my handicap is a 12, I’m nothing special. But this course was like going to a party in an abandoned home with a bunch of homeless taking keg stands.
I was generous with my review stars.
Boulder Oaks sounded so cool. We left early. Be better.
Amazing staff and great course!
Played during the winter with my dad the course was great for winter and staff was amazing
