Bear Creek Golf Club
About
Bear Creek Golf Club is one of the courses that makes Hilton Head Island one of the country's most popular golf destinations. Rees Jones designed the course, routing the layout through majestic pines and sparkling blue lagoons. Jones kept much of the existing landscape intact, earning the golf course Audubon certification. There are five sets of tees total, with the longest stretching over 6,800 yards. It's a course that players of all skill levels can enjoy regardless of handicap. The tight, bunkered fairways are an infamous feature of the course but Bear Creek is also known for having some of the best greens on Hilton Head Island. The finishing hole is the course's signature. You'll have to navigate your way past a narrow chute of pines to reach the green, which is fronted by a large lagoon.

18th hole Photo submitted by Sammy369 on 02/09/2015
Slow play but great price
Got a good Hot Deal rate for mid afternoon. Only drawback was the pace was so slow that we played the front twice because we never would have finished the round had we continued onto back nine. No Marshall present to move things along.
Not worth the $$
No Marshalls on course to move pace of play; no Bev cart service on a busy afternoon. Cart staff not welcoming. Course was ok.
Good time
Pace of play was great. Course is in good condition
Very nice
Enjoyed alot was paired up with 3 great Guys from Kentucky area. Made a great day even better. Staff was great and starter took the time to bring my Wife and I glasses for the water on the course. Fairways were in very good shape and greens were maintained well but a little slow and no break. Would certainly play again.
Sand traps were in poor condition: little sand covering dirt. No cups at water stations. For a few dollars more we could have played nicer courses.
Nice layout
Bear Creek was fun and challenging. Course was in Good condition. Greens hold and roll true. A few tight pin placements made for a tough 1/2-putt. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Got finished in 4 hours with ease. Staff was friendly and the clubhouse grill post round had good food and nice staff. Will return next time on the Island! Thanks for your hospitality.
Local Gem on Hilton Head Island
Fantastic staff, welcoming and helpful! Greens were in GREAT condition, the rest of the course in pretty good shape overall, but the green side bunkers were compacted and could have used a good raking. Can hit driver on nearly all of the Par 4’s, but you will need to shape your tee shots both ways (fades and draws) to stay in the fairway.
Nice new clubhouse with a well-stocked pro shop. Lunch was included with our round in the new grille, menu was pretty typical grill/bar/golf course fare.
Did I mention how great the staff is? We are definitely coming back for another round!
Good day at Bear Creek.
Staff, course, amenities and maintenance were all above average and the course was challenging and fun. My only issue was pace of play which could have been mitigated by a Marshall. Fortunately, we had all day to play so it was good to be playing golf!
One of our favsn
Starter went out of his way to work us in and get us out early which was greatly appreciated as the spot made for a great pace of play! Course is well maintained and staff super friendly and accommodating!!
Good course
Played at Trent, this was almost as good at less than half the cost
Good Times
Second play in a week.
7:34AM Tee Time finished in 3:10 great pace of play.
When arriving there were a couple large groups checking in that should have have already teed off. So standing in line, thought here we go, a 5:30 plus round ahead. Didn’t happen Pro Shop managed the situation perfectly with no interruption or inconvenience to others.
Well Done
Great Course can’t wait to come back.
Bear Creek - reasonably price, very scenic
Course is pristine, a few narrow fairways and several water hazards, but fun to play. I highly recommend this course
on Hilton Head Island, Sc.
Welcoming and challenging
First time playing
7:24AM tee time 2 players finished under 3 hours with a group in front of us.
Very welcoming friendly staff from club house greeting to the Starter Terry giving us helpful tips to Ranger checking to see how we’re getting along.
Course is challenging, shot position and course management will reap good results.
Playing again on Saturday.
Bear creek gets a thumbs up !
Read the reviews of this being an unknown
Gem on HHI . Well , they are true . Course is a true value on the island . Course Conditions were very well kept , staff was very kind and the layout of the course will provide an enjoyable round of golf for just about any level of player .
Thanks Bear Creek . So glad we stopped in .
Good layout. Needs some TLC
I have played Bear Creek several times and it has good bones. Unfortunately, grass is growing in the bunkers in the fairway bunkers especially. Also, several tree limbs have invaded the corridors back to the tee boxes. This course would also benefit from a ranger to keep the golfers moving. As I said, good bones in need of some TLC and $$.
New HHI Favorite
First time playing here and we were pleased with the facilities, staff (except the cart guy), tee boxes, fairways, greens and overall layout.
It's now our new favorite Hilton Head Island course for the money.
