Silver Oak Golf Course

About
The centerpiece of the Silver Oak residential community in Northwest Carson City and just a 25-minute drive from the Reno, Silver Oak Golf Course is part of what makes the High Sierra a world-class golf destination.
Playing to 6,392 yards and with five sets of tees, Silver Oaks is a course where both a scratch golfer and a high-handicapper can find a challenge. An intriguing layout that highlights the nearby Sierra Foothills, Silver Oaks will test a players game while offering scenic beauty.
With a very respectable slope rating of 130, players will need to bring their game to score low. But even better than the interesting design and scenic qualities is the green fees. You'll rarely need to fork over more than $30 to play this respected 18-hole championship golf course that includes top-of-line practice facilities.

Great scenery!
Course well maintained; quite challenging. Slow greens this time of year.
Wednesday Afternoon
Silver oak is becoming one of my favorite courses in N. Nevada. Staff is friendly, course is in great shape and you can’t beat the views from 15/16.
Cool elevation changes
Driving S/B on 395 to Carson City,, I saw a fairway at the base of a mountain, so I decided to check it out. I am very glad that I did.
Pros:
-Nice elevation changes between the front and back 9
-Fairways and tee boxes in good shape
-Most of the ball washers at the tee boxes were in good order
-Restrooms were clean
-Rough and areas off the fairway were in good shape, allowing me to find mis-hits
-Beautiful track & nice scenery
Cons:
-While the ball washers were in place, many had a stale odor so they could be cleaned and changed
I will come back and play again on my next trip to Nevada. I enjoyed it and so will you.

course was ok
For the money the course was OK but I would not pay full-price to play here. Some of the greens were marginal and the rest were kind of bumpy. It's worth trying out here or there maybe, but is not on my list of top courses to play.
Course has an interesting layout
Silver Oak was a great value. It's 60% cowboy movie set and 40% nice residential golf. The fairways and greens were in great condition, while the cart paths were more like stagecoach trails. The front nine has a lot of elevation changes, and the back nine has several water hazards to negotiate. Overall, a fun challenging round.
Review
Course was in good condition. There were some dry areas due to the drought. No beverage/snack cart service. Greens held well.
Odd but interesting
Haven't played this course in a few years and remembered you REALLY need to hit it in the fairway.
It is really like two separate courses, one very mountainous and pretty scenery and the back very resort like following a housing development around the nine with lots of water carry.
Enjoy playing it a couple of times a season.
Best in Carson City
A fun round. Not overly challenging, but not boring either. I prefer a little longer course but the views make up for it. I think it's the best course in Carson and will play it on a regular basis.

Great course you need to play it! Condition of fairways & Greens were great!
Good time
THere was a five some that we caught up with but was still moving well. Only had a threesome so it was expected to happen. The greens were in great shape. Long as people repaired their ball marks. Fairways we're in good shape. The ruff was cut the day before or so and there was excess grass around. Other than that the course is great.
Tough little course
Course was in decent shape for the hot conditions we have had this summer. Very challenging and with all Northern Nevada courses, you need to play early or deal with the wind.
fun course
we always have a good time at Silver Oak. It is a fun course. Every hole is different. There are a lot of short par 4's which give you a chance to score. The greens are interesting
Gem
I am surprised that we didn't encounter more traffic for a Saturday. It's a great find.
Has it all!
Can't beat the value of this course. I love the elevation changes the quality of the course and its managable green locations. Very few pointless obsticles the terrain is the challenge. Super fun!
Excellent condition. Windy in PM
Had the course to ourselves, mainly because we played in the pm and it was pretty windy. The course was in excellent condition. We were on vacation but would like to play it again the next time we are in the area.
Great Experience
The sfaff is very friendly. The beverage cart service is well positioned and the attendant very friendly as well. The tees and fairways are in excellent condition and the greens are true and they hold well to approach sthots. Fun to play.
Lush for the desert
Silver Oak is in good shape, with recent rains the fairways were lush, rough dense and juicy. Gave the course more defense than it normally has.
The greens were not as firm or fast, but rolled true. Unfortunately for ALL golf courses, people do not fix their pitch marks, spit sunflower seeds on the putting surface, and neglect to kick the sand when leaving bunkers - tracking it onto the greens. I wish etiquette was a part of the checkin process.
Challenging
The course was very challenging, the staff were friendly and helpful. Had a great time...
A bit windy!
We played the back nine first, and the smell from the water was terrible. As we moved along, it improved and disappeared. The back nine was a lot of fun and challenging. We experienced a thunder storm that lasted for one or two holes. What a hoot! The greens were rather bumpy in places, but overall, a great day of golf.
