Avoid This Disaster of a “Top Tier” Course – The Ridge at Castle Pines North is an Embarrassment
Played The Ridge today and I’m honestly stunned at how horrendous the experience was. Let’s start with the front 9 – it looked like it hadn’t seen proper maintenance in weeks. Fairways were patchy, unkempt, and bordering on unplayable. Greens? Laughably bad. If your idea of a “premium” golfing experience includes pothole-ridden greens and zero consistency in speed or roll, then maybe you’ll feel right at home. For the rest of us who expect even basic upkeep, this was a complete joke.
And don’t even get me started on the greenskeeping staff – rude, unprofessional, and clearly more interested in flexing their egos than actually maintaining the course. Never in my life have I been treated with such open hostility by people whose job it is to care for a golf course.
The back 9 wasn’t much better – multiple dead fairways, burned-out patches everywhere, and a complete lack of attention to detail. It felt like they just gave up and decided to charge full price anyway. No pride. No effort. Just pure neglect.
For a course that has the audacity to market itself as a top-tier facility, this was one of the worst golfing experiences I’ve ever had in Colorado. The Ridge at Castle Pines North is nothing more than a scam with a fancy logo. Speaking of logos – Golf Digest should be ashamed to have theirs anywhere near this mess. If this place is on any “best of” list, you should immediately question the credibility of whoever wrote it.
Don’t waste your money, your time, or your patience. There are countless better options in the Denver area that actually respect the game and the golfers who play it. This course? It’s a total disgrace.
Construction everywhere
If you are looking to play this course wait for another few months while they fix everything under construction. Almost every hole on the back 9 was under construction, you weren’t allowed to play one of them and they are still charging a premium on Golf Now without telling you you get 17 holes with 10+ are under construction. I would like to get credit for this round since I wasn’t informed how poor things were on the construction side.
Great Golf Experience
The course layout is excellent with great views and elevation changes. The staff from the bag drop, starter and pro shop were extremely friendly and helpful. This is a very fun course to play and I can’t to play it again. The only negative was that the back nine bunkers were all under construction. We were told this at checkin and did receive a discounted rate, but it did take away from the playing conditions on the back nine. That said I can’t wait to come back and play when all the work is done.
Bunker repair
Unfortunately, all the bunkers on the back nine were in the process of being rebuilt and were out of play. Also number 11 was reduced from a par five to a 75 yard par 3. I would have loved to have played it in normal conditions. This would definitely be a 4+ stars golf course under normal circumstances
Under construction - pace of play
All the back nine traps are getting redone. 11 is playing as a par 3 but on a weekend with nobody working, we kept it as a par 5. Played through a group after nine, so we had a 2:20 front and a 1:45 back. Didn't catch the group on the back until 18. I paid a discounted online price, so it wasn't too bad but I wouldn't pay the full weekend price of ~$200 with the construction.
Very disappointed with course conditions Sand traps unplayable and most are under construction All you can do is place out as ground under repair. Played 11 as 2 par 3 instead of normal par 5 and 17 was closed. This was not orth a municipal fair of $50 or less. Let alone their full price. I got online special of $71 with cart and still did not feel good about the course. Played in years past and enjoyed it hit this wa highly disappointing
Great value
Course was under repair, which I didn’t know about. Still feel like I got my moneys worth. We got stuck behind a slow foursome. Idk if that’s course management or unlucky.
Lot of fun holes, difficult course.
Beautiful Course
We celebrated a friends' birthday with a round of golf at the Ridge at Castle Pines. The course was incredible, the staff was great and the weather was perfect. Great memories with good friends in beautiful Colorful Colorado in the fall. It can't get much better.
Castle Pines's best
This course is across the way from the member's only course where they played the BMW Championship and it's as close to greatness as you can get. The layout is unique throughout the whole 18. One of the staff members best advice was to keep the ball in the fairway if you want to have a decent round, unfortunately I could not hit it straight on that day and really suffered playing from the thick rough. The back 9 is much more scenic and perhaps a little more challenging than the front 9. Some of the holes are pretty spectacular such as 10, 17 and 18. The practice facilities are superb. 5 out of 5 stars!!
Awesome Experience for a Small Group
We had a bachelor party of 12 golfers out to play at the Ridge, we set up everything ahead of time with the course and they made the process very easy, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming across the board for us, the course was in awesome shape and a really fun layout. Would absolutely recommend for anyone doing a golf trip to the Denver area
Sand traps were cement. Back nine was beautiful, Couse was in OK shape but not if I paid 185
