Huge Improvements!
Was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. They have made vast improvements on this course and have many more planned. Still had some muddy spots but far less than in the past. It will be great to see this place continue to improve.
Suggestion..... we were well within the pace of play with a foursome. The markers showed our pace over 15 minutes ahead of schedule even letting some couples play through. An impatient local had to complain to staff about our pace anyway. It would be good not to chastise players when they are told to play faster on the word of some impatient bigshot. We were entertaining a guest visiting from Africa. It sets a bad tone for which course we may play in the future. I am also a local and was asked to give you guys another chance. This kinda put a negative tone on our experience.
Lots of baron ground
Course was fun and economical. Had lots of bare ground with limited grass. Still fun and challenging. Well worth the money
fun course
The wife and I played the course, the front desk person was super friendly, hooked us up with a cart and a bucket of balls for the range. We headed off to the first tee with no pressure from the next group. The fairways were wide, with some patches of dry areas. The greens were fast and well maintained. There were a few green which had patches of shorter grass. The course was fun and challenging for us. If you’re looking for Torre Pines, type of play, you’re on the wrong course. For the value, it’s a good course.
Course in poor shape
Course was in poor shape. Mostly dirt and brown weed fairways. Greens had major blemishes and weed patches
Nice course
Overall everything was good. Given time of year some areas not green I suspect is normal. We might have benefitted from a Marshall to move players along but it was still a beautiful day on the course
Great price, great course
Easy course, plenty of great views and well maintained for a public course. Would absolutely play here again if I’m back in the area.
Agave Hills
Course is in rough shape but the management is working to make repairs to the irrigation system. should be back in good shape soon.
Yikes
Awful conditions - fairways are virtually non-existent due to all the crabgrass and bare spots, Greens are a joke with all kinds of bare spots. tee boxes aren't great as they are very hard ground or overly spongey and uneven. many of the holes re surrounded by all kinds of unplayable conditions. Really disappointed and the cost for the quality was really bad. People were nice. Golf cart was terrible - old, gas engine, parking rake only worked on flat ground.
Long way to go
Recently re-opened after taking a month to improve. Greens are like putting on shag carpet with areas of blight/dirt mixed in for the added challenge. Tee boxes had not been cut, so bring extra-long tees to keep your balls just higher than the grass. They are letting the roughs go to seed, so good luck finding any ball off the fairways. To be fair, they have had no rain in a while and are trying to improve the dog-track conditions that had existed all summer. So, kudos for the effort, but it’s just not worth $50+ a round right now. I’m going to wait another month and try again. Maybe they’ll have grass to mow and will have properly mowed it by then.
Under repair
The course has so much potential. Beautiful area. Great layout, was probably an amazing course years ago. Diseased greens. 9 holes shut down. This kind of thing happens, but it needs a lot of work. Great staff though!
Ok golf
They should offer a discount course was in rough shape. A drilling rig was in the middle of one of the holes. Big water leaks in the middle of the fairway. I will not play here again.
Very poor condition
This course is probably in the worst condition of any course I’ve ever played. It may be under construction but the price to value here is completely unacceptable.
Embarrassing
I brought friends that were here on vacation from MN. This course is trashed. Spend the couple extra bucks and go to Sedona.
Course is in fair condition, Staff is great!
The course is in fair condition. Fairways are decent, roughs have little to very lean bermuda, greens are in fair condition. Some greens have areas of repair and can be soft in areas.
Pro Shop staff and Eduardo in the lounge were great! Pace of play can be slow in the AM due to the Men's club on Monday's & Friday.. But I was lucky enough to be paired with 2 guys who were a lot of fun to play a round of golf with. Making for a enjoyable day on the course.
Staff is great, condition of course is fair
The staff @ Agave were great, friendly & helpful, from the Pro Shop, maintenance crew to cart barn attendants! The course condition is fair. Fairways have enough grass to hit off. The roughs are just that. Having areas with little to skimpy Bermuda grass to hit off. Layout is fun with some challenging shots to clear barrancas, but nice. The greens are fair, some have areas being repaired & are a bit slow. Overall if looking for a full length course to get a round in that is 1/2 the cost of courses in Sedona. Give it a go!
