Grand Canyon University Golf Course

About
Grand Canyon University Golf Course (formerly known as Maryvale Municipal Golf Course) offers an 18-hole track designed by Ted Robinson, Sr. and built in 1961. The par-71 golf course measures 7,269 yards from the championship tees and is open year-round.
The Bermuda grass Grand Canyon University Golf Course gets plenty of shade during the summer, thanks to several onsite trees, and features flat and wide fairways.
The fourth hole, for one example, is a 160-yard par-3 where you'll have to shoot over the water - and past the brick wall that separates the green from the water.

fun course with a lot of bunkers
We liked the course. T boxes and fairways is good shape. Hard to stay out of the bunkers! Good sand practice but sand was a bit compact and hard.
Need a ranger
Nice course but play was too slow and the condition was surprising for time of year
Patience needed
Waited on every hole except the last three. Round was just over 4 1/2 hours. Fairways and greens were good but bunkers were hard and rocky. Fair for the money but I would rather pay a little more and have a better experience. Staff was extremely nice
Good Times
Fun and easy going. Course was in average shape but clubhouse was closed when we finished.
Golf in Glendale
All was ok. Course was average but lots of roll on the ball.
Very Nice
Really like playing this course. Long but manageable, greens were in decent shaoe. Bunkers play A major role on this course you better know how to clear A bunker or stay out if them, big and deep.Facilities ate top notch and student staff are all very friendly.
Nice Course
Challenging and friendly. Great atmosphere. Well maintained. People / staff were great.
Great course for the money!
First time golfing here, great layout for the location. At first it looked like there would be a lot of cross interference between fairways, but there was not at all, a lot more space between holes than it looks. Great pace of play, finished in 4 hours 10 mins. Great staff, at the club unloading and pro shop! I will definitely come back here for a round next trip down.
Really Good
First time playing this course and it was really good. Very challenging. Bunkers at driver landing points and guarding virtually every green. Requires well struck shots, as you’d expect. Greens were very fast and rolled decent, with a few bumps here and there. I’m a 12 hcp and shot 85 from the blacks, so I was pretty happy. Will be back.
DeadPan
I've played this course several times. At the moment, I would NOT recommend playing here.
The entire course is deadpan, even the fairways. Your reward for a perfect drive? Your ball resting on compact mud with a veneer-thin layer of grass on top. It's almost like hitting off a green.
One of the guys in my foursome used his putter for approach shots less than 30 yards, which should not have been possible.
Very disappointing for the price.
Challenging
I played this course last year and told people it was challenging but I had forgotten just how. I quickly remembered on the first hole. Almost every Green is elevated more like table top with bunkers around most of it. The greens were exceptionally fast but in good shape. I guess you have to be pretty accurate if you want to make par. Even with a good drive the second shot in On a par four was critical to be on the green but difficult unless you are very accurate and the bunkers were pretty much like concrete. Then there were the Fairway bunkers we spent quite a bit of time in those as well as they were laid out perfectly if you played the correct Tee Box for your ability. Anyway it's reasonably priced and worth playing at least once but prepared to be a little frustrated unless you're a low handicapper. I usually shoot mid-80s but I quit keeping score after whole five yesterday.
Poor management
Tee off 2:04pm. Starter said to begin on back nine. 4 groups jumped right in front of us on the 1st hole while playing the par 5 18th! Really stinks that they would do that. Had to quit at 9 after paying for 18 because the wait was ridiculous. Told the young woman in the pro shop, but she was clueless, and the started was no where to be found.
Course was a 4/10 in my book as for condition, and layout, but I’m used to country club conditions in a much greener area of the country. Price was fair for 18, but I should get a free round for what happened.
