Montreux Golf & Country Club

About
Montreux Golf & Country Club boasts the only Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course in the Reno and Lake Tahoe area. The 18-hole course is situated within a private community sprawled across a varied terrain of high desert and wooded parkland of the Galena Forest. Montreux Golf & Country Club lies at the base of Mt. Rose, offering plenty of memorable mountain views. The layout features long narrow fairways that are lined with trees, dramatic elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers. The signature set of holes, the sixth through the eighth, is nicknamed the "Bear Trap." These challenging holes have lakes and undulating greens in addition to the stunning mountain views.

Awesome Private Club Experience
Our caddy was super and just had caddied for Steph Curry the previous week. The course conditions are top of the notch. Hard pressed to find better conditions. Cool to play where the pros play. It's a course that would be fun to be a member at and play it over and over. Would love to come back.
desert meets alpine
This is a wonderful course that is bunkered well and offers tricky greens. Jack says Montreux is one his top 10 designs (although I think he says that with all his courses).
Unfortunately It only has a 5 month season May-Sep. If you can’t get on the course I recccomend buying a ticket to the Barracuda Championship to view and walk the grounds
A fun Jack Nicklaus course in an alpine setting
Montreux might be in the middle of a luxurious gated community, but the course has none of the feel of most real estate golf developments.
The course looks natural like it's hidden in the woods. The homes sit well off the fairways, and most backyards are protected by towering pines and landscaping.
Showing a full commitment to a pure playing experience, Montreux bought new land after the original course was opened in the 1990s and built several new holes. The old holes became practice holes. The second practice hole, a do-or-die shot over a hazard, could easily be a signature par 3 at most country clubs.
The magic moment of Montreux is the 17th tee shot. The hole plays simple for the pros who lay up short of a cross hazard, but it's intimidating for us amateurs. The Nicklaus greens are tricky to put, even for pros with experienced caddies.
At least one casino - Atlantis - offer golfers access, so getting inside the gates at Montreux is easier than most people think.Any time you get the chance to play a PGA TOUR venue, it's a special experience.
Great course that lives up to were the pros play
This is probably the most scenic golf course that I've ever seen. The Montreux golf course is absoulutley spectacular nestles inside if the gates with luxury homes. The PGA tour calls Montreux Golf and country club home every year. The PGA tour plays there lone stable ford tournament here and is always a success.
The course is very nice with the towering pines and the snow capped mountains nestled in the sky. The luxury homes are not near the course however you will see a few backyards. The clubhouse is absoulutley perfect with outdoor patio dining and 360 degree views of the mountains. The greens were fast and the grass was absoulutley perfect. Overall a very solid course with great views where the pros play.
