Pine Lakes Country Club

About
Elegant and upscale at every turn, the 62-room antebellum clubhouse has been a must for photographers since its completion in 1927. When the azaleas bloom in the spring, it was in this setting that Henry Booth Luce's famed "Sport Illustrated" was founded in 1954.
From the white-gloved caddy master, to the on course chef, everything about Pine Lakes is bathed on old-fashioned class and charm. Although the clubhouse is completely private for the club members, at present, arrangements have been made for guest play through a very select group of member hotels. Should you be fortunate enough to stay at one of these facilities, we suggest you make it a point to visit this classic.

Thanksgiving Eve
Day started a chilly 41 degrees but quickly warmed to the point that short sleeves were donned. Professional treatment recieved from Cart Guys, to Starter and Rangers. Very friendly employees especially entertaining questions from us about the History of the course. Clam Chowder at the turn was delicious. Even shooting 97 (me) and 101 (SIL) couldn't deter us from a great round with the twosome we were paired with. Will return!
Pace of play was Brutal!
They play off both tees at 9 minutes apart. All about the dollars.
All well and good until you start the back nine or front nine…that’s when it becomes a cluster. Other than that, the “Granddaddy” was in good shape, fair and fast greens, fairways were nice, and rough was full but not overly penalizing. Would return…when pace problems are resolved.
Very fine course
Quality golf course with a great mix of hole types with water mixed in, with nice doglegs. Greens kinds of challenging with good speed. No warm up range or this would be a high 4 star track
Enjoyable Track
Generous fairways, greens rolled nicely. The real challenge is the approach shots, most greens were elevated. Approaches played longer than the yardage. Take more club!
A classic
This is a different type of course for Myrtle Beach. The fairways seem to be a little wider and it’s more of a country club feel at this course. Greens rolled well. It’s definitely worth playing.
Just plain slow play
Started at 1:30. First 9 holes at a good pace. Back nine was terrible. Got behind a walking 4 some that I found out have a noon starting time every day except Friday.. We ended round at 6 pm. Holding up everyone.
Great Course
Overall, the course and staff were fantastic. Tee boxes and fairways were gorgeous but almost every green was in disrepair. Price for guest is a bit steep to be playing on greens like that. Would recommend and go back as this is likely a temporary condition.
Extremely Soggy
There's clearly a drainage issue on the fairways. Some of the fairways were absolutely saturated and it felt like I was standing on a sponge. However the roughs weren't which is what made me think it's a soil type issue on the fairways. I really did enjoy the course though. I would definitely play it again if I'm back in town.
Overall good
Had issue with payment on this one they charged me wrong tee time and they charged us both on tee times plus what I paid at course they did refund the others and very avg on friendliness of staff but course in good shape and fun to play and they did not get drinks out to us until end of 6 th hole on hot day so be prepared
This course is beautiful
I love the historic nature of this course, being the oldest course at Myrtle Beach. straight forward, yet challenging, course. Very nice facilities, with helpful staff!
Enjoyable experience. Staff was excellent. .
Will play again when we return to the area.
