Tanna Farms Golf Club

About
Tanna Farms Golf Club in Geneva offers some of the best golf that the Fox Valley has to offer. The layout meanders across prairies covered with wildflowers and weaves through lush wetlands. The course begins with the stunning signature hole. The par-3 opener has an island green that sets the scene for this thrilling and memorable round. Although it's a seemingly short course at 6,510 yards from the back tees, what it lacks in length it makes up for with plenty of other challenges. Besides the first hole, there are a few other tough par 3s, including one with a postage-stamp sized green. There are some daunting par 5s as well. Tanna Farms Golf Club is not a lengthy course but the layout is generously spaced to offer breathing room between the holes and the undulating slopes and subtle elevation changes make it pay much longer.

Where Do I start?
From the time you arrive, you get the pleasure of no driving range and a putting green that is so small, you have to take a number to get your turn. The first hole is a 100 yard sandwedge to a semi-island green directly into the sun/east. The course has 6 Par 3s and 5 Par 5s. The greens were slow. There was no drinking water on the course (and it was 90 degrees when we played) and no cart person driving around with any hydration options. No GPS on the carts. Do I need to go on?
Greens and food
Greens are in good shape but are inconsistent for speed and cut
Food is stupid $5.00 for water or candy bar ?
I'll bring my own
Very Slow Pace
I've played Tanna Farms multiple times over the years. The course is fun to play and has many unique holes. This is not a grip and rip it course. You really have to think about placement to ensure best score. This time out there were two issues. First, the tee boxes were torn up and need some TLC. The biggest issue was the pace of play. Every hole and every shot, we had to wait. The tee times were spread out by nine minutes but there were at least two groups that were playing incredibly slow, which backed up the course. Despite this, there was no ranger to be found. The round took 4 hours and 35 minutes but we should have be done in four hours or less. Tanna Farms needs to monitor the course more and move along slow golfers or make sure they are letting groups play through.
Tanna Farms
Very nice course. Pretty good condition .Back nine is spread out and very far from the clubhouse. Nice bar area.
Not going back
Got a good Hot Deal for a morning tee time on a nice day for golf. I like the course layout and it's close to home, but won't be going back this year. Here are my issues: There is no driving range and the world's smallest putting green. The island green par 3 first hole is intimidating with no warm up (all 4 of us lost our first tee ball). There is no drinking water on the course with not halfway house, and you don't return to the clubhouse until the 18th hole. The cart girl finally came by on the 12th hole and we were all dying of thirst by then. The cart paths are in terrible shape - very bumpy with weeds growing through them and makes for a rough ride. The course is so spread out that it would be impossible to walk - a couple of green to tee distances must be over a city block long. The greens had been aerated and were very bumpy. The sand traps were rock hard with very little sand. And to top it off, my car, which I had just washed and waxed, got sprayed in the parking lot with something that left a white residue and took me an hour to remove the next morning.
Tamarack
Played the course for about 5 years when it first opened in 1989. For old time sake I our head Golf Now and went back today. Talk about disappointment, gone to the dogs. Many traps are no longer cared for and have become waste areas. Even two right by a Green. When first open I would rate it 7 1/2 on scale if 1-10. Today I would rate it 3 at best. Tee Blocks look like they have not moved in weeks Embarrassed that I took people with me
Good Time...
Course was very good for the price. Unique island par 3 on the first hole. Layout makes you think. Not a "grip it and rip it" course, but not overly narrow, either. Only negative was that the beverage cart passed us by the 2nd time we saw her...and we even tipped well the first time! We were on the other side of the fairway but we weren't out of sight, and we would have been customers if given an opportunity. Only saw her twice all day, too. Otherwise, excellent day.
