Red Hawk Run Golf Course

About
Red Hawk Run Golf Club is an Arthur Hills design that is known to locals for being one of the toughest golf courses in northwest Ohio. Water is a prominent feature of the course with both Red Hawk Lake and Eagle Lake coming into play. There are also six holes that play across a meandering creek. In addition to the water, strategically placed bunkers lurk along the greensides. At more than 7,100 yards from the back tees, this demanding golf course is not for the faint of heart but there are five sets of tees total, which makes it more approachable for a wide range of skill levels. Besides the challenging layout, Red Hawk Run G.C. also boasts an impressive practice facility with an eight and a half-acre range that has both target greens and sand bunkers.

Course Has Closed
Course closed about 3 years ago and does not appear that it will reopen. Course will need a new irrigation system amongst many other things.
This was a very good Art Hills course designed towards the end of his career. The greens really stood out with lots of undulation.
Sad loss for Ohio public golf.
Decent course , but overpriced
Decent course, but overpriced. If this course were in Central Ohio , it would have to cut its green fees in half , to under $30 . I played 2018 & ‘19 for $15 on Golfnow Hot Deals . They are the “ only game in town” for miles around them . Central Ohio offers many better courses at better prices. They’re green fees jumped in 2020, unfoundedly so. I do like the course and people running it - now convince the money-crunchers...get real ! Haven’t been back since price hikes- Near $50 is not realistic- some crazy high grass rough areas & some slow untended greens make this course a 4 rating value out of 10 scale best. No 4’s for my money. My foursome demands VALUE !
Took my son for his first round at the hawk! Great time!
Once a NW Ohio jewell
Three of us played drove 45 miles to play this course one last time. This course is expected to close the end of the 2019 season,. On this Sunday the course was surprisingly empty; it seemed we had the course to ourselves. However at the turn, a group of 5 high school players tee’d off in front of us, but politely allowed us to play ahead. The course does not sell beer on Sunday, which might explain the low numbers of golfers. The course is plenty challenging. Conditions were fair; all the bunkers are in poor condition and have weeds and grass growing. They obviously have been neglected for quite a while.
Sand traps need work
Not sure what type of sand traps their going for but they hadn't been worked up for some time and were compacted and have weeds. Other than that course is challenging from any of the tees. Greens have subtle breaks and have a nice pace. The daily fee is a bit much for the area to play often, thanks to golf now we play here twice per year.
Not a fan
We picked this course because it was recommended as one of the top ten courses in the Toledo area by the local newspaper. We also played Maumee Bay, Eagles Landing and Stone Ridge. I was really disappointed. We generally like to play from tees around 6000 yds, but the closest choices were 6203 or 5540. those extra 200 yds make a big difference. Only 3 Par 4's were under 350 yds, so I was constantly hitting hybrids or 3 woods to the green. Also, I'm not a fan of Arthur Hills. Lots of thick, tall, wild grass surrounding the bunkers and fairways. We would lose balls that hit near a bunker, or just off the fairway because of it. Bunkers were very poorly maintained, sometimes taking 2 or 3 shots to get out. The greens were unusually slow. The gas carts had a really low governor speed, so you felt like it was taking forever to get to your ball. I'm a 14 hcp and would have expected to shoot in the mid to high 80's, but I shot a 99. It was Tuesday so pace of play was no problem. Also the staff was very friendly and professional.
A decent course
The day I played it, it was nice but they had a lot of rain that week and the course was very wet. That's not their fault so I won't comment on the conditions, which were still decent, given the amount of rain. It is a nice course but I was a bit disappointed after reading some of the reviews of the course, thinking I would get more. It's nice, but based on the layout, it's nothing special either. I would recommend it to locals but I wouldn't travel more than an hour to play. The Staff was very nice.
Solid course
Course was in great shape. 5 different tees, something for all skill levels. Not overly punitive but not easy. My only knock on this course was that we played in the middle of the day on a hot, beautiful Saturday and there was no cart girl or drinking water available anywhere but the clubhouse. Other than that, great time.
VERY BAD
BAD, BAD, BAD ,BAD ,BAD..... NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I
PLAY THERE, THAT ALSO I HAVE TO SAY!!!
THE COURSE WAS AWFUL
I get to the house at tee time and they tell me the it was airaded that morning, but from my understanding just the front because they asked if I wanted to play the back 9. Of course I did, but when I get to the green it's also airaded. So I just left!!!! For the money that they regularly charge I would NEVER RETURN AGAIN OR SUGGEST THAT COURSE TO ANYBODY!!!!
Very nice course
Course was in great shape, they must have had a ton of rain because it was very wet all over but the grounds crew did a great job on maintaining and dealing with it. I love the layout and the difficulty the greens give you. Overall very pleasant staff and great place to play.
Very open courae
A normal course in the middle of now where but we where passing by (Detroit to Columbus).
Great with one exception
Bunkers need work, that's why they get a 4 instead of a 5 for course conditions. Some are just dirt. Manager said it's next on their list of things to do. I guess one solution is to stay out of them. Other than that it's one of the best courses you'll ever play.
$14??? What?
This course for the money is incredible!
It is over 7100 yards long.
The greens are in very good shape.
The layout is fantastic.
If you are in the Toledo area,, you need to play at Red Hawk Run. Pace of play is hit or miss, but the price and quality of this championship golf course makes this a must play.
Too links course
So we play the best courses within 60 miles of Toledo. This is in my top 5. Great challenging layout and conditions are fantastic
Great Course
Redhawk is a very nice course and a great value. The staff is outstanding. There are no negatives about anything associated with the course. Most impressive were the greens. They had good speed and were smooth as smooth could be. I thoroughly enjoyed playing there and will do so again whenever I am in the area.
I just played (July 2019) and they're still crappy.
