Hampton Hall Club

About
Hampton Hall, a Pete Dye signature design in Bluffton, S.C., is well suited to golfers who like to boom it off the tee to wide, generous fairways. Beware, however, of the numerous bunkers. The keys to success are staying out of the sand and well played second shots. Tip: Be sure to stick your approach shots, because while the greens are enormous, most slope toward collection areas and/or sand bunkers. Hampton Hall's 18th is among the top closing holes in the state.
Hampton Hall boasts dozens of stations on the practice range, plus chipping and sand areas, and putting greens.

Deserves to be highly regarded!
This area certainly has a lot of amazing golf, but Hampton Hall deserves to be discussed more than it is. The conditions were perfect, the layout was probably the most forgiving Pete Dye I’ve ever played and the staff and members were all wonderful! If you ever have the chance to play, jump on it. I could play this course every day. Thank you so much to everyone at Hampton Hall for giving me an amazing day!
wonderful course
Played on a Wednesday afternoon and the course was in excellent shape. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were terrific. Layout was good for all levels of play as there were multiple tee box selection with the tips well over 7200 yards- the member tees (white) were set at 6400 yards yet there was opportunity to play from 6100, 5700 and 5400 yards- Greens in particular were great-- showed some winter conditions but were good for this time of year. Pete Dye subtle design was interesting-- landing areas generous but rough is challenging--- need a short game around this course to score as the greens, bunkers and undulations are typical Dye.. Fun course!
Hampton Hall Golf Club
Course is in great shape. Greens are true and fast. Fairways always give you a good lie (unless you hit it in a divot). Nice layout and playable for all abilities. If you are in the Bluffton, SC area and have a chance to play I highly suggest it. You won't be disappointed!!
Very nice
This course is in excellent shape greens are very fast and smooth. i will put this high on my hilton head courses to play
This course is one of the best on the Island
I was challenged by the course layout as it was not your typical country club course. The greens were fast but fair.
The fairways were in excellent condition.
The value for the money was outstanding and I would play this course everyday if I could.
Very good course.
Very open wide fairways and fast sloped greens. A good challange. Plenty of variety in holes.
lots of water
The course was in excellent shape and well maintained. The staff were friendly and service was great.
There were only 2 small drawbacks:1 credit cards only : 2 the holes did not have maps for green or water locations (made it hard for first time playing there.
Great greens
Not typical Pete Dye, no rr ties, but very undulating greens
One of the best courses I have played in the Hilton Head area!
A nice variety of holes with a good mix of challenges. The greens are excellent! A nice practice facility. A real country club atmosphere. A treat to play and will make this a repeat during subsequent trips to Hilton Head.
An outstanding, challenging, and fair golf course that is in the best condition of any course I've played in HHI and South Carolina!
When I checked in the assistant pro told me it was a Pete Dye designed course. I dislike Pete Dye designs because they usually are overly difficult and you can get penalized for good shots. But this course was not that way at all. It has very wide fairways and the right amount of sand and water. If you play well, you will be rewarded. You can also be off your game not get killed on it too. Yes, it has some of Pete’s classic feature like big greens with multi-levels. But the transitions were modest and not tricked up like most of his designs. To me it was the best course I’ve played in SC and in HHI. It has lots of character with a variety of challenging but fair holes. The course was in the best condition of any of the courses I’ve played in HHI and SC. The greens were absolutely outstanding. There are the best greens I’ve played on with the exception of Muirfield Village GC and Oakmont. The grass was Bermuda, but it was cut short and looked almost like bent grass. The grass itself was lush and thick, and I never noticed a single thin spot on them anywhere. I would go back and play there anytime and highly recommend it to anyone. The price for carts and greens fees was $90, but considering the course quality, it was a good value. I’ve spent a lot more to play on a lot worse courses.
Best course we played this week
We played three courses this week and Hampton Hall was by far in the best shape of the three. Tee boxes, fairways and greens were all green and in very good condition. Rough was still brown but spring has been slow in coming all over the country. Staff was friendly and lunch was good. We will come back to this course if we vacation in the area again.
We like the course and the people.!
We have played this course for the past 3 yrs and will continue to play it for it is in good shape, well managed and friendly.
