One of Indiana’s Best
One of the best Indiana golf courses. It’s a modern Pete Dye course that has all of his modern features: built up undulating greens, big wild bunkering and a terrific layout over some very hilly terrain. Views from the upper holes of the water and surrounding area are great.
Worth trip at least once
I would rate the following:
Topography/Views A+
Course Maintenance B
Old Carts/Paths & clubhouse C
Fairway/Green Conditions B
Challenge A
The fairways and greens were healthy grass but quite bumpy and unpredictable.. Challenging elevated pin locations and fairways with lots of tall grass and various water hazards. Not many difficult sand bunkers. But You’ll need extra balls for sure which slows pace of play. Frustrating for even intermediate golfers.
Just missing a few minor details that could make this much more of a resort destination.
Great cours very challaging
Take plenty of balls the first time you play it...
Narrow Fairways and lots of tall Cabbage but the layout and condition is Fantastic..
If you can keep from being distracted by the views of the lake and boats its a treat to play.
Clubhouse is a small little building but they have anything you may need..
Indiana's version of Pebble Beach
I've played this course three times now - once each year. I play in a group of golfers who play all over the state at the best public courses we can find. We play a different course each week. This course has remained on our list for the past three years because it meets our criteria, which is that it be a fun and challenging course, well maintained, by friendly staff. This course meets those requirements and then some. I almost hate to tell anyone about it, because I'm afraid it will get to be so popular we will struggle to get a tee time. Anyway, this is Indiana's version of Pebble Beach. There are at least 5 holes where you are on the lake while teeing off or putting. Take your camera.
Lakeside in Liberty
We grabbed some vouchers off of group golfer and gave this course a shot. It was a pretty solid experience especially for the price tag. I enjoyed playing around Brookville lake as i have fished there for years and this was my first time actually hitting the course.
The layout is solid with a good variety of lengths for holes, doglegs sprinkled in and a few good opportunities for birdie. The conditions were average for this time of the year and the rough was very thick. The greens were pretty undulated with some devilish pin locations. This course could be very difficult depending on hole location and if the wind was blowing strongly off the lake.
The course is a resort style set up and pretty affordable from the little research I have done. We have an annual family trip that we are considering relocating to this location next year. Liberty is in the middle on no where, so if you are coming from Indianapolis expect a drive of 90 minutes to two hours. It is worth the trip once very couple years, but i would't call it a "must play". Solid track, and i wished I would have played it more when i lived in Richmond.
PB Dye Craziness
I guess I should be fair off the bat and say I'm not a fan of PB Dye designs. It's like he tries to go out of his way to trick up his courses more than his dad, and this was no exception. Some of the holes moved right past challenging and into gimmicky. I don't know who rated the course at 70.5/122 from the blues, but they must've played it several times to figure out all the proper lines off the tee and into the undulating greens before rating it.
Like other PB Dye courses most the greens are elevated or perched above the fairway, with greens that you have to hit at targets more so than the flag to catch slopes. Center of the green is not always correct either. The front 9 was more in front of you - it was the back 9 where I thought they went a bit too far - holes 14 & 15 in particular I did not care for. There are some nice views of the lake when you're near it. But it's a bit of a puzzle, so pay attention to the pin placements, and be prepared to be humbled even when you hit decent shots.
Course was in decent shape as well. The thick rough was super dense, so kiss those balls goodbye if you go in it. Greens had been punched I'd guess about 7-10 days ago so they were bumpy at times and inconsistent in grain. Only got passed by a single over 36 holes we played today. If you're local I'd play it, and it's worth a once in a while trip.
Favorite course
If I didn’t live 45 minutes away I would be a member here my absolute favorite golf course to play
October golf for 10 bucks!
An incredible golfnow.com hot deal for $10.00. Beautiful low 60s autumn afternoon. Had the course to ourselves. Tricky greens and well maintained course. My partner and I were slick after 13 holes and then we both collapsed on 14 and 15. Middle of the season it can be pricey, but even then it is certainly one of the better values in the region.
Hidden Gem on Brookville Lake
Great Rate on GolfNow.com. I had been considering playing this course for some time, but never previously found the time to fit it into my schedule. I was fortunate to find the time recently just days before the course was closing for the year. This golf course is somewhat hard to find, but well worth the effort. The course layout is truly exceptional as no two holes are alike. It pays to review the caddy tips provided on the website along with watching U-Tube videos of each of the holes by Wes Widdows prior to your round. Course conditions were excellent as the greens were perfect - fast and true with no ball marks! The fairways and tees were all very good. Yes, there are some blind shots into a few of the greens, but the course was not tricked up or impossible as noted on some of the other reviews - it does require accuracy and distance control on your approach shots. My only recommendation would be to clean up the edges of ponds/water hazards and add aeration so that they are not stagnant and covered over with algae. Hole diagrams on the scorecard with yardages would also be helpful - perhaps a yardage book is available in the clubhouse for purchase. If in the area again, I would definitely play Harbor Links at Sagamore Resort.
Still my favorite course in the Cincy area
This course is still my favorite course in the Cincinnati area. The scenic views are spectacular and the course was in absolutely the best condition I've seen this year. The greens were nearly flawless. The fairways were great. This course isn't for every golfer as several of the holes will challenge your skills.
Windy day by the Lake.
Great P.B. Dye layout. Play here about 5 times a year. Always enjoy my round here. Staff is a pleasure to deal with. You cant go wrong opting to play here.
Nice layout
Large group of us played on a Friday afternoon in late summer/early fall. Nobody on the course so we kind of got to do whatever we wanted. Layout is awesome and it has some really nice holes on the lake. We lost a lot of balls in our group so be aware that this is a tough course. I can’t wait to come back and play again.
Diamond in the rough
Excellent course!!! Extremely challenging for every level of player. But very playable. Pristine condition even for this time of year. Young man in the pro shop was very friendly and has all the answers. Nothing snooty for such a nice track. Well worth the drive!!!
Hidden Indiana Gem
Wonderful golf course from tee to green.
If I lived closer I'd play 3 times a week.
Ran into a couple of 5 somes on the back 9...
slowed us down, but still had a great time as usual.
Why did I wait so long to play this course?
I’ve seen this course several times whil boating on Brookville Lake. The course looked very scenic. I had NO idea how challenging this course is.
First time at Harbor Links
One of the better golf course I played in my life time
Great course
The staff at Harbor Links was very accommodating. The gentleman even gave us the senior rate even though we had already booked our tee time at a higher rate. The course is very well maintained. The fairways and greens are well watered and in mid July that is hard to find. The views of the lake are spectacular from many of the holes. The course is challenging but fair. I would recommend this course to any golfer.
Harbor links
Had a great time playing today. Perfect weather and near perfect course conditions. Fair ways and greens in very good condition. Some greens have some burn areas but considering the lack of rain lately,, and heat not too bad. Greens were fast and true. I look forward to playing again .
