Closing today
For a course that is closing for good this afternoon the course was great. Greens were fantastic and the fairways were good. Doesn't hurt that I had my first hole in one on #9. Sad to see it go.
a good walk not spoiled
I was impressed with the overall condition of the golf course: tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and greens: of the four courses we played in the San Diego area it was the best value for the money:cart, breakfast and well maintained track- too bad it will be closing at the end of the month and it was our last round before our return- would have played it again
Great greens. Too Bad they are closing course 3/31/15
Sorry this course is closing 3/31/15, but greens were in great shape!
Challenging greens
This course is laid out on the side of the 15 freeway on a hill,so everything runs toward the freeway. A very challenging course indeed, but also fun! Was my first time & I broke 95!! I think a must course if you like a challenge!!
Thanks loft golfer :)
good for the money
Played at 2pm on a Thursday and finished in 3.5 hours. No driving range but chipping and putting area were good but didn't represent the speed of the greens on the course, which were in good shape. The course was fun to play and everything rolls to the freeway. Some of the course was hard to look at but did not affect the experience much. Beer was expensive and didn't see a drink cart at all.
Great Greens, course is in good shape.
The greens were running fast and true. Not sure what happened to the lake in front of the par 5 6th hole. It's playing as ground under repair. There's no water and it looks like it's going away. Other than that the overall course conditions were pretty good.
To Bad It's Closing
Great course. I love playing here. To bad it's closing. I think San Diego is loosing one of it nicer courses. Been playing once a month or so for 20 years. We will miss it.
Better than expected
Don't understand what people are looking for when they write a bad review about this course. It was in good shape and its a fun course design.
so so
Course is good greens are great if you miss a fairway you slope 3 holes towards highway stopped by two days earlier for left handed clubs told they were New they weren't lame excuse from guy that said it was bad info. Typically us lefties are treated this way anywhere.Used to being lied to.E.G. Mesa Maui
most expensive beer in san Diego
Why charge $8.50 for a pint of torpedo? That's more than any 5-star resort! Guaranteed to have no return visitors to the bar.
Nice Course Except
The course was very nice except distance markers are scarce and hard to locate. Quality of play would be greatly increased with GPS on carts or yardage poles.
Why the Hate?
I read a lot of reviews on this course, and most were very negative. I was staying at the hotel for Christmas, only had to pay 27 dollars for 18 with a cart at 9am, and I could walk right from my room to the course. Good deal all around.
The whole time I was playing, I kept on thinking, why did so many folks hate this place? I was paired up with a local twosome (Nice to meet you Jason and Colin) and asked if they knew why, because we were all enjoying the place. Apparently, with the drought, this course really struggled, but with the recent rains, it's looking really good.
It's not all good though. As you'll see in many reviews, the warmup leaves A LOT to be desired. The starter is inside now, but the wiring is bad, so you can't actually understand a word that is said from the speakers.
But, after shooting a 10 over par 82, I was happy with my play, and the course, but then they went above and beyond and had someone cleaning your clubs as you putted on 18! Thanks guys, and I'll see you all again when I visit SD again!
Pretty fun course but don't step on mud
I live around this course and visit often when I am too lazy to drive long hours. The course is pretty challenging when played from back tees. Fairway condition became better because of recent rains. It is probably the best time of the year to play this course. Not many advanced players are playing meaning that sometime people don't seem to know of etiquette. Please keep from stepping on mud since it stays on your shoes almost forever. Hard to remove.
Get what you pay for
Wanted to get a round in, more as a practice round. For $29 good value for that. I've played there before many times and the course has slowly gotten worse over time. Drought and economic conditions have taken their toll. Got paired up with 3 older gentlemen. They were nice guys and were playing forward tees but really slow anyway. 5 hours + No marshal to come out and give them a boost, not my job to do that. Anyway, the course is ok for $29 but the type of golfer there reflects the cost. So... basically ok but there are other places to play for a bit more money that are better.
The death knell
Haven't played this course in years but it is pretty easy to walk and it's close to home and the price was right...so I went out to wish it a not so fond farewell as everything I read says it will be closing up for good in the near future...losing another North County course is not good news but this one won't be missed by many. For one that is going under, it played pretty well and was in decent shape...just not a very interesting of fun to play layout.
nice place
fairways need some work but over all nice course
fairly hilly but makes for some challenging shots
Good
Overall good course, there is no real driving range just a net you hit into too. The only negative i had was there are no hole layouts or pictures. You have to download an app and it didnt work for me.
Fast round
Went out at 645, finished at 915. few singles a few holes ahead that paired group. Over all nice fast round and greens were nice. Some fairways were dry but welcome to San Diego, most course are like that. Did not do it this time but the round of golf with the breakfast included is a great deal..... Will be back
