Water Gap Country Club has a dramatically hilly terrain that provides a unique and challenging round of golf. Since opening in the 1920s, the course has played host to a number of major tournaments. The links-style layout features lightning fast, undulating greens and seemingly receptive fairways that are fiercely guarded by mature trees. The elevation changes throughout the golf course guarantee that a flat lie will be hard to find and golfers will have to face several tricky blind shots. Water hazards come into play on five holes and there are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Water Gap is formidable test of your shot-making skills to say the least, but there are some birdie opportunities available. The signature hole is the par-3 fourth, which plays from an elevated tee to an elevated green.

Course Closed
We played the courses at year it was open. Course was wild: had tons of quirk, great layout, elevation changes, and wild greens. It was one of my favorite courses.
Do not make reservation at this golf club!!
I came this course from NY city. It took me 1 hour and 40 minutes.
The golf course was closed and now it is private shelter.
I was wasting my time but I enjoyed a beautiful day instead.
Tee off should be posted no longer business opened.
Well, do not go new golf course without any simple calling.
Rundown on the rundown
Unkept, dangerous cart paths , no sand in traps, etc. it looked like the course should have a haunted house on its property
This could be a quintessential golden age gem with a very simple fix: cut the grass. There was no differentiation between the fairway and the rough, it was all rough, I've never seen anything like it before. I usually don't care about conditioning, but this course would be unbelievably fun if the ball was able to roll out. Blown away by how cool some of the green complexes were, this course must have been incredible in it's heyday.
Worst course ever played on
Crab grass fairways, no fringe around the green, grass around bunkers is overgrown, nothing maintained, burned out greens. Wouldn’t even play for free. Worst course I ever played.
Was that a golf course????
We were in a spot to make a quick decision to play 9 holes after the course we went to had leagues playing. I suggested wolf because it was close to home. What was I thinking!!!! After slapping down $40 for both of us to play 9 the guy sent us out on the back nine because the front was being used for a scramble. I didn’t read the reviews until the next day when I needed to add my two cents. Every bad review is correct and then some. This course should close down and not embarrass the good people that work there. It’s obvious no cash is being put into the course. Bottom line- it was a hard $40 lesson. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE.
P.S. pace was awesome. Not a sole on the back nine. Lol
going out of business
We have played this course for many years and loved it. They have sold it and let it go to pieces. The fairways are all crab grass the tee boxes terrible and the sand traps awful, STAY WAY !!!!!!
Class To Cow Pasture (( STAY AWAY !!!! ))
We have enjoyed this course for many years until now.AVOID THIS COURSE !!!!. the tee boxes are horrible the sand traps gone and full of weeds,The fairways are crab grass and on the greens they have to pick a spot for the flag that does not have bare spots.WHAT HAPPENED. The clubhouse is closed and at the pass on a Friday afternoon at 145 the snack bar was closed.
Needs work
Course needs some work, grass is high even on the fairways, bunkers have deteriorated to either no sand at all and only grass or grass growing through the sand. Greens are very worn down and in poor condition. The layout has potential but the course needs help.
Beware of conditions....good value?
Club is under construction/renovations. Course is in need of major maintenance. Tee boxes and fairways are not cut. Not a drop of water in ball washers, etc. If you want to hit the ball around, this may be the place for you. Recommend only hot deal price! The lady that check me in was very helpful and friendly...Hope she finds a logo ball for me...thanks
Please mow!
We've played here in the past... it's not the best course, but with the lowest GolfNow specials of any course around, it's always been impossible to complain... until now.
The grass was nearly impossible to deal with. There were spots where the grass was 5-6" tall within a foot of the fairway and there were even a few spots where we could not find the ball even in the fairway! I know it's been very wet for a long time around here, but there were many areas where the grass was high where the ground was firm and could have been mowed much shorter. It ended up being a very long round with many lost balls.
I hope we just caught them on a bad week. I will play there again, but only after calling to confirm conditions have improved. Staff was very friendly.
A course worth trying
The course was mostly empty on a beautiful spring day. The club house, which is old, appears to be under some renovations, which are needed. may be under new management trying to make upgrades. Club house was not open except for the pro shop and rest rooms. Skeleton crew at this time.
The course fairways are in good condition. Some of the greens are in need of repair. The growing season should help provided restoration efforts occur.
This is a hilly course which is challenging.
Great course
I play here often and enjoy it each time! Never slow play, very friendly staff and I like the course overall... would highly recommend !!!!
that’s your fault
