Under Repair
Front nine was great. Back nine was total frustration. 10,11,12,13 was a guessing game to find. There were temporary markers to the wholes that made no sense. We were not the only group at a loss. 15,16 lardages didn’t match score card or gps. All of these changes should have been addressed up front as we asked where the first tee was. No mention was made as to any construction. Played here a year ago and was terrific. Bermuda ruff was so high you couldn’t find your ball unless you were looking straight down on it. Geens were really fast but spotty with spaces with no grass. Grass was way too high on tee boxes.
Based on our experience a year ago we were disappointed.
Where to go
The staff was very friendly and the greens seems to be in good shape, but we made a 7am tee time with golf now and the course didn’t even open up till 7:30! The carts path were none existent or torn up. Trying to navigate from each hole was a mystery in its self
Construction Zone!
Construction is everywhere. New housing projects going in. If I had not been with a player who knew where to go. I would never figured out how to navigate the course. If there is any type o f rain you will be four wheeling in mud. The pace of play was excellent because no one else was playing. Now I know why!
Closed
Average golf course until it started to go downhill. Had some great holes.
Greens were great
The fairways and greens were great. The bunkers were terrible. Weeds everywhere in them. There looks like there is a lot of construction going on there as well.
Shambles
Sad to see a course in poor condition like this. A little tender loving care and it could be a real enjoyable course but until then I'd recommend going elsewhere.
Love This Course
First time playing at Royal Oaks, the pro shop attendant was very friendly and knowledgeable about the course. My group had a blast. The greens were the best in town, people warned me about the course but they were defiantly wrong about this small local owned course. The cart girl was very charming and checked on me several times. I will be back! Thank you for making it such a pleasant experience.
Worth the money - $16
I’d complain about this course if it wasn’t so cheap to play. $16 to ride 18 is just great. I played in the afternoon and literally was the ONLY zone on the course. It was hard to find my way around, poorly marked paths. I’m still not sure what happened at 15/16, but I think I should have played it twice. Burnt greens, really rough rough, and poorly marked tee boxes. I played it out of curiosity, but probably won’t again...unless I’m broke. Lol.
Course Conditions
After playing here several times in last month, course is really looking much better since aerifying greens. Fairways mowed and second cut favorable. Greens were watered and most looking could even with this heat! Compared to other similar priced courses in area this is my choice with friendly staff and good location. Views of mountains cant be beat from this course !!!!
WHAT A SHAME
POOR EVERYTHING JUST GO AHEAD CLOSE DOWN AND BUILD YOUR HOUSES NO NEED TO KEEP THE COURSE OPEN IN THIS CONDITION
First time here in years
Boy they have let this course turn to trash. The fairways are almost nonexistent. Good luck finding a tee box that has a level place to hit from. Greens are full of ball marks and mushrooms. Will never play here again
Could be better
This is first time playing here it could be a very nice course but was not prepared at all, greens were ok but several had damage and construction on them, some had 11/2” mushrooms growing on them, the tee boxes were not mowed some so tall could not set a tee. It’s a pretty course and could be good if they kept it up.
This is an embarrassment to golf courses
Terrible greens, tee boxes full of weeds and tall grass. Fairways full of weeds and bugs everywhere due to non maintenance. This course should be free or shut down.
Nice greens
Greens are fast and true, fairways need work but ok. Some great vista of the Smokies. The sand traps need a lot of work. Plenty of water on the course which is great. Pace of play was fabulous 2 hrs and 30 min. Overall great bang for the buck.
Challenging back 9
Greens are good ..fairways and traps need a lot of work....
Great Value for a learner
Greens are good, fairways fair, cart paths need work, but I'm new to the game and find this is a great course to improve my game. Its cheap on golf now with a hot deal.
Good greens
Early in season for lush fairways, but playable for sure. Greens are good. Consistent. April 18.
Greens are always good except when aerated.
I enjoy the first nine holes of this golf course, but not the back. So I play the first nine two times to make 18. Whoever designed the back nine did a poor job.
