Creek at Indian Creek Golf Course

About
The city of Carrollton hired Dick Phelps to create 36 holes in the flood plain of Indian Creek and the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. His design features narrow fairways lined with cedar, oak, mesquite, and elm trees, as well as average-size greens of medium speed. The predominant hazard is water, which comes into play on and astounding 34 of 36 holes. The first course at Indian Creek Golf Club, the Creek Course, is considered more difficult, and features water on all 18 holes. The 466-yard sixth hole is the featured hole. Indian Creek runs in front of the tee and down the right side, and the fairway has a grove of trees in the middle.

5 hour round
Played the Lakes today. On a Monday I don't expect to have a 5 hour round. They don't seem to care about the pace of play. They can track all the carts so they know they have a problem, but do nothing about it.
RANGEFINDER(s)
On 4/21/24, after finishing 18 holes,I drove my cart directly to the cart barn to drop off my cart. Failing to remove my rangefinder from the side of the golf cart (magnetized) I walked of leaving it behind. Yesterday, I called the course to report it missing with hopes the cart employees turned it in. I was told that it was not. As disappointing as it was, I let it go. I let it go until I was told that this same thing happened to someone I know on Wednesday the 24th. Unlike me, this person called the course just 10mins after driving off from the golf course. He called the course and was told they did not have his rangefinder. I find this extremely fishy.
Good course - tough greens
Love playing this course. The layout is good and they take care of the course. It’s tough from the back. The pro shop people are really friendly and accommodating. Would recommend.
Creek >>>>> Lakes
I had played the Lakes a few times but this was my first stab at the Creek. LIttle cold and windy this day. But a really cool layout! Plays shorter than the yardage due to long par 5s and short par 3s. Not a bad walk either. Definitely worth paying a little extra to play the Creek vs the Lakes
Great Course
Great course and Creek side is in fantastic condition.
Creeks Course at Indian Creek
Indian Creek has reopened after 35 days and the courses look great! With social distancing protocols in place the course is currently walking only. From tee to green the course is in great shape. Looks like the greens were punched during the closure and are now in great shape. Play here as soon as possible.
4th round in Dallas didn't disappoint (creek course review)
i want to start by saying, go on thier website and get thier online deals....$29 weekday is a steal for this course. the greens rolled great, but had the occasional pot hole based on golfers that didnt fix thier marks...i ended up fixing 2-3 on just about every other hole, but definitely not the courses fault. the fairways were solid, with some wet spots that seemed to be on lower ground but overall were pretty good. tee boxes were fine with grass and mostly level. i can only attest to 2 traps and they were both fine with plenty of sand deep enough not to hit the bottom dressing. i will definitely play the Creek course many times if they keep up the conditions today. the reason for not 5 stars...the pace...i tee'd off at 9:18...was walking by myself, played through 1 foursome who gladly let me pass, and then made the turn at 10:50. awesome hour and half front 9. then right at the turn i hit the field. 3- two somes behind a 4 some who were behind a 5 some of walkers. over a two and half hour back 9 is unacceptable on a friday morning. no ranger the entire round. if you add it up yes i had exactly a 4 hour round, but you need to have the context to understand my rating for pace. i really wish they would send a ranger out once every hour or so to just check the pace. other than that (and that wont deter me from playing again soon) i loved this course. im hoping this was a one time thing and maybe the ranger was ill today cause the pace forced the two some in front of me to leave all together.
Excellent Service, great layout.
The course was in good shape, the greens had been recently dressed but they rolled true. Fun mix of holes with some strategy involved. I liked the challenge down the stretch on the lakes course.
Writing the review today because of the service from the clubhouse. The entire staff went out of their way to help me prepare a golf bag for shipment. Beau and Joe were especially helpful.
Creek Course @ Indian Creek
This was the first time I have played here since the flood. The course is in good shape, from tee to green. Anyone familiar with this area knows that Indian Creek is in a flood area, so I was surprised not to see any added water features from the recent rain. The greens are fairly large and undulating. The GPS in the cart is always a bonus. Overall I am very happy with the experience I had here, so glad they decided to keep the course open.
Great Course at a Great Price
Played on Sunday afternoon after a decent amount of rain on Friday. Course was in great condition. No issue with pace of play. Each hole was unique and the greens are very large with quite a bit of undulation. Will definitely be back.
Good Winter Golf
For January in Texas this course was in excellent condition. The fairways were dead so the ball ran a long ways but they were still smooth so it played fair. The greens were lush and extremely reactive for the time of year. The greens were quick but rolled true. Overall it was a very good value based on the price we paid. I would highly recommend this course if they keep the price under $50.00 for the winter. The only negative comment I have is some of the pin placements were a illegal and if you missed you had the potential of having a longer putt coming back.
Not a good experience....
Played on possibly the nicest Saturday morning in mid-late December....was 70 degrees before cold front blew in with 2 holes left to play....so conditions were solid.
First the positives.....The greens were in really good shape, as were the bunkers. There was one one marshall who was out going and nice. The cart girl was friendly.....however, she was THE ONLY CART GIRL FOR THE TWO COURSES ON SITE.....for a saturday morning???? This leads to the negatives.
There was no starter. For the nicest Saturday morning in December, THERE WAS NO STARTER. We arrived at the tee box for our tee time, only to see there was a group on the box, and another waiting. The group waiting let us go first, thankfully. Pace of play the rest of the way was not an issue.
The fairways were garbage. I understand not being green this time of year, but rarely did you have a rewarding lie in the fairway. Very bumpy, not well kept.
BOTTOM LINE.....this course charged $60 to play. This course should not be charging more than $40 for a weekend rack rate. LOOK ELSEWHERE for this price point.
Good Value
I've always liked this course. So glad they decided to reopen it after the flood.
Great course
Played for the first time right after it re-opened and it ate my lunch. The speed and undulations of the greens were new to me. However I couldn't wait to get back and take it on. The course is just in great shape. Greens are big and fast. The traps are in good shape. It is an easy walk but a challenging course. My only suggestion is adding 200 yd markers. It would only save time for those not familiar with the course.
The course was a great value for walkers. I do take some issue with charging for replay but now that I know that it is my decision to play there or not.
Brilliant as always
This is a wonderful course, and the staff if very kind.
Today the greens played a little soft, but it makes for some lower scores.
I think most will shoot 2 under their handicap out here.
Welcome Back Creek Course!
I was very pleased that the city of Carrollton chose to bring back the Indian Creek - Creek course after the Spring 2016 flood damage. Until the last couple of years, I had taken for granted how excellent the Creek course is. Having started playing significantly more golf at many courses in and around the Metroplex in the past few years, it's just clear that the conditions at the Creek course are top-notch (quality and care for the greens/fairways/tee boxes, course layout, etc). The staff at Indian Creek seems to have done an excellent job restoring the conditions to their pre-flood excellence. The only aspect of Indian Creek that could use some attention is the rough ride of the carts. Given some bumps and humps throughout the Creek course, the carts seem to have an absence of shocks in the suspension. Welcome Back Creek course!
Welcome back Creeks!
You'd never know by looking at it but this course was closed for over a year due to floods. The fairways, greens, and traps are all in excellent shape. There's some fun holes on this course with the last three holes being very challenging. A very good bang for the buck course. The cart girls are friendly and came by 2-3 times each 9..
Improvement areas:
With no GPS, there are no hole maps on the tee box or scorecard. So bring a good golf app if you're not familiar wit the course.
The food service was slow at the turn. We were told sandwiches were the fastest items so each of us ordered one. After waiting 15-20 minutes all we got was bread and meat. No lettuce, condiments, or anything else on there. The clubhouse area and staff is nice but the food service is slow and the food itself underwhelming.
Now (re)open!
This was my first time playing either course at Indian Creek. I had heard great reviews of the Creek course, but the course was closed for just over a year due to the heavy rain and flooding of 2015. It is now reopened to the public.
This is a very nice place, however they still need a little more time to heal.
The course was very soft and wet in some areas. The greens were recently verticut, so there was a slight issue with that - not too bad though. Tee boxes are a little fluffy.
For now, 3/5 stars - but I can see that this place will only get better with more time.
Overall I had a great round and will be back soon.
The Creeks is back!
Prior to the floods last summer I would always hear how great of a track the Creeks course was. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to test it out before it closed due to mother nature. Well, I was finally able to see this beauty at its re-opening in early August and it didn't disappoint!
The staff has done a tremendous job getting the course in shape and ready to go, and the DFW golfing community should rejoice. Go play!
