Riverwalk Golf Club

About
A collaborative effort by Ted Robinson Sr. and his son has resulted in a most scenic championship layout. The championship 18 meanders through mature eucalyptus trees, tall palms, and majestic oaks. Sparkling ponds contrast with the dozens of white sand bunkers and the emerald green, Bermuda grass fairways.

9th Hole Mission Photo submitted by canyonman59 on 12/06/2012
Shoulda played steele for the rate....
Rate is double if not triple what it should be for a course this level. Conditions are similar to mission trails, bonita etc. 4/10
Seems like a money grab after it was sold for housing development. After ground broke on the friars 9 for housing construction, prices have doubled.
With doubled rates, and 9 less holes to manage id assume it would be easier to keep conditions up to a decent level. They have not.
Steele canyon is same rate and conditions are 10x better.
Golf shop employee said 'greens were perfect'..... they were not. Carpet feel, bumpy, not pure at all. Greens need to be cut and rolled.
Fairways were riddled with dirt and mud patches.
Pace of play is atrocious.
Breakfast sandwiches are good at least. 10/10
Nice Course Slow Play
Plan on 4.5 to 5 hours. Last two times I played here we had to wait at least 10 mins at each tee box.
Conditions improving
Conditions have improved since the last time I played here. Still a bit pricey for what you get. It has the ability to be a fabulous course in central San Diego which draws tourists and locals alike. It is also a wildlife refuge. Hopefully they don’t turn it into condos or shopping centers.
Good time
Riverwalk is a cool course with cool holes. Bridge over the San Diego river is cool. Hitting over the river is cool as well. Some drivable par 4s. The only draw back which wasn’t a big deal to me (but might be a deal breaker to someone picky) was that I didn’t get the tee time I signed up for. The Marshal was friendly and knowledgeable of the course.
Fly in and play
This is a nice warmup course for my yearly spring break trip. Plus it’s right across the street from my condo.
Disappointing, very long round
I love this course, but played this round in drizzle which would have been ok but we were started behind a Shotgun tournament group that had 2 groups( 8 players) starting on each hole. This meant lengthy waits on every shot the whole round which lasted 5 hours and 20 minutes! Miserable day and not much help from marshals who seemed unable to move the tournament along, this after assuring me at the start they would allow no more than 15 mins per hole for the tournament group. So disappointing.
What could have been
Its been along time since we played here and my 4 some really enjoyed the layout but we were not informed that greens had recently been sanded! Not even on GN web site...bummer I missed 5 putts under 5ft and it mad what could have been a great round a bummer. Ill be back in summer to see if it has healed up.
1 other note: I paid on line full amount on line (thru GN) and when I arrived he billed me more money for cart use ?? It felt very fishy and has never happened before like that??? What's up w/that....
Good but...
Attractive, well-maintained track. But the pace of play is glacial.
Perhaps handicap-based tee guidance would help.
Beautiful Long Coarse!
Had an exceptional day playing 18 with little brother. I live so close and never made it out to RW. It’s my knew favorite.
Pick a tee time after 1:30 and save 25% cart rental and two players was $175
Nice greens
Greens were in great shape and rolling well. Most tee boxes were like hitting out of the rough and hadn’t been cut in a while. Fairways were very patchy and in pretty bad shape.
