Much Better Now...
The last time I played this course the greens and fairways were in pretty poor condition. I am happy to report the course has improved dramatically. Thanks for all the hard work to bring this course back to where it was before.
AH making preps for future tournament. Course in beautiful shape. Started after the Womens League play. It took over three hours to play front nine, over 5 to finish. Much too long.
Ancil is back
Wow! Long way from last summer. Great condition. They just filled all the traps with sand. Great track!
What happened?
This course was in absolute terrible condition. Fairways, rough, and bunkers all in poor condition. It felt like you were hitting off of mats since the ground was so firm, couldn’t get any divots which made for poor ball striking. The only good thing was that the greens rolled well. Definitely will be the last time I play here until things improve. Someone other folks I played with at another course earlier this summer warned me about the course conditions. I figured the condition would have improved by the end of the season…not the case.
Leaves & Show Play
Too many leaves of the ground after a rain and wind storm, which is to be expected, but it's not a good time to play this tree-lined course.
Sunday At Ancel
Ancil Hoffman is a great public course. Sunday was a real nice day and our foursome had a good day. Only problem with Ancil is it plays SLOW. doesn't matter when you play, it will be slower than nearly all the other courses in the area. We knew that but got a good deal so we played. Very enjoyable round on a great day. Just was slow.
