The newly renovated Claw at USF, named thus for its many doglegged fairways, offers a distinct layout that seamlessly winds through moss draped oaks and towering pines on pristine Florida preservation land. You will enjoy the fact that there are no houses crowding the fairways. Located at the University of South Florida, this manicured course is home to alligators, deer, turkeys and many other rare inhabitants. You will feel like you are playing in the heart of a nature preserve. "The Claw" is also home to the nationally ranked men's and women's USF Golf Teams. Elevated greens and new Tif-Dwarf putting surface, will test your finesse and shot making ability.

Absolutely terrible
Never played at a worse golf course in my life! Course was a joke, people were driving on greens and the 7th hole didn’t even have a hole in the green. It makes sense that they are closing soon
Worst kept course I’ve ever seen
This was quite literally the worst condition golf course I’ve ever seen. One of the holes does not have a hole and there were more flag poles without flags, than flags. The worst 60 dollars I’ve ever spent.
Terrible conditions
I know the course is closing but they could have kept it up a little until then. It is terrible however the bunkers are great go figure
I Hope someone buys it and builds it back up to better standards

Course is closing soon. Appears that the maintenance has ceased.
Not what it once was
Sad to see the continued condition decline of this once tough course. Condition is dreadful and greens are non existent. Go just to get exercise and practice tee shots and approaches.
Disrepair
Very poor condition. They must be going to close the course. Greens with no grass, tee boxes with no grass, fairways aren't cut. More weeds than grass everywhere. Cart barn condemned as is clubhouse. If you want to pay $10-$15 to practice on a course, then go ahead.
Pro: Cheap
Atleast it’s cheap. Half the boxes and greens are dirt.
Don’t waste your time or $
Course is not being maintained at all…one of the worst courses I’ve ever played…I heard that the university isn’t putting any money into the course because they’re directing all their funds to build a new stadium and it shows…
Worse Course in Tampa
The staff is great ! But that’s the extent of it. Tee box is crap. Greens are terrible. How are they still open ? Wow!
Close this dump
Why wait until September? Pull the plug on this dump and get it over with. It’s obvious USF has zero interest in the golf program.
The Claw has gone downhill…fast
This has been a respectable establishment in the past, but the university is losing so much money on the course that they’ve elected against maintaining the tee boxes and greens. Fairways and bunkers are good, but I’ve never seen greens as bad as this. The layout of the course is challenging. Lots of turns, elevated greens, and water hazards. The staff is wonderful. Very friendly and accommodating. They recognize the condition of the course mandates some concessions, and so they’ll gladly work with you on price. They’ll let me boys play with me for free, which is awesome for the boys while they learn.
They need a lot of work
2 out of 18 holes were decent the rest looked like they gave up on the course.
