Tatum Ranch Golf Club

About
The course at Tatum Ranch Golf Club is a true desert course due to its placement adjacent to the beautiful Sonoran Desert. The course has a target-style design that features subtly rolling fairways and greens that are large and undulating. Water hazards come into play, some in the form of ponds. There are also several sand bunkers strategically placed throughout but especially around the greens. The course is a challenge, but it offers a fun, fair game for golfers of all skill levels. Its location near residential areas causes the occasional appearance of homes on the course. Tatum Ranch Golf Club's signature hole is the par-3 11th hole, which requires great control. Although the hole is not long, it is difficult with a narrow, guarded green.

Great short par 4s
Interesting course in housing development where the houses don't intrude on play. Varied design of holes makes for some different challenges each time you play. Some great short par 4s. Greens have many big borrows.
Tatum Ranch a Gem
Friendly staff
Nice layout impeccably maintained. Lush fairways, thick rough and fast greens. Had a real enjoyable day!
So So......
It was the first time I played there and I found that their was little or no signage. Confusing, most fairways did not identify which hole I was about to play. When I arrived their also was nobody around and no direction on where to go for the club house. (no staff at the bag drop location)
They were getting ready to over seed and the course was a mess so I might give them a break on that (for now) I would consider trying it again later but for now I will stay away.
Great Course
The course is in fabulous shape and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. There are many tee boxes to accommodate every level of golfer. I am 72 years old and a 21 handicap so I played from the black tees. I would recommend this course to any level player. In my younger years I played from the blue tees at 6600+ yards then the gold at 6300+ yards. There are also green tees at 7200 yards for the really good players.
Hidden Gem
Beautiful and well kept. 5 tees to choose from. This confirms my preference for using Golf Now to get $100 courses for half or more off, rather than $50 courses for $30.
It was OK
I had heard good reviews about the course and was looking forward to my round. When I arrived, there was no one at the bag drop area. Someone did appear and loaded my clubs within a minute or two. I parked and returned to the unmanned bag drop and my cart and clubs were gone. There were no signs or directions on where to check in. I found the golf shop and my clubs in the rear of the building. I felt a bit uncomfortable entering the building and looking for the shop in that the front door had a sign stating "Members and guests only." Check in was smooth and friendly. Driving range was closed for some reason but open later when we finished. Course was fine. There was way too many grass clippings around the greens. Seemed like it hadn't been mowed in several days. Greens and fairways were quite nice and smooth. Tee boxes were small and crowded with a foursome but well maintained. Also very close to houses on several holes. There were very few yardage markers on the course other than the 50 yard increment markers on the cart path. Thankfully, I was in only a couple bunkers but both were quite hard with little sand. I didn't use any food or beverage but it looked nice. I was told at check in that there was a beverage cart on the course but didn't see one all day. In sum, it was a nice place at a decent price but not a great place for a nonmember, which makes perfect sense for a private facility.
Overall course condition
Fast, excellent course condition, great time. Would play again.
July 21, 2014
The course is in poor condition, very dry and greens slow and yellow because burned by sun. This golf course is a 15 $ golf course, not a 30 $ golf course.
Course good but Greens aerated
Course was in overall very good shape. The greens were still showing the aeration effects from the prior week. Bumpy a little slow and sand apparent on some of them. Still a very enjoyable experience
course is nothing special
Though it is listed as "private" they have opened a few tee times to the public.....course is nothing special and lacks any great character....just back and forth..only one hole has water.....with so many really good courses in the phoenix area I would not recommend this course...it was in very good shape but again none of the holes are really spectacular...pretty bland layout
Great course conditions
Course plays very well and has a great layout. Staff was very nice
The Ranch
Great course to play in summer. Great practice facility. No bev cart so stock up at shack before headed out. Carts could use gps.
Member atmosphere
Wednesday was my first time playing Tatum Ranch and it was a good experience. Check in was easy. The dress code is strictly enforced at this course with the staff asking shirts are tucked in during the round.
The tee boxes were level and in good condition. The fairways were a little dry but not in horrible shape. Drives would roll out a good amount of distance. Some areas of the fairway had been recently aerated but it didn't affect play too much. The greens were in good shape but firm. The greens speed was a 9 according to the course.
The course wasn't overly crowded but did have quite a few people playing for a late Wednesday afternoon. I rated the F&B as poor because no beverage cart was out during my round. The course did have numerous water stations including ice.
The course is in a good location and is fun to play. I will definitely keep it in the summer rotation.
Summertime Scottsdale Golf
Course was in quite good shape given high AZ temps (around 100) and fairway transition to Bermuda from winter rye grass. Greens were reasonably quick and got more so in late afternoon as they dried out. Tatum does not provide GPS so yardage often guesswork. Great value given lower summer prices.
VERY NICE DESERT GOLF COURSE
VERY NICE DESERT GOLF COURSE
GREEN VERY FAST
A LOT OF SAGUARO A LOT DESERT
WE'll come back with pleasure
Great Course
Pleasant reception and welcomed by staff upon our arrival. Booked online through their Discovery tee times and the course exceeded our expectations. Greens were lightning fast and true. The entire course was a pleasure to play. Hope to play again soon.
Not for the beginning golfer
Excellent golf course with narrow fairways and fast greens. Course was in great shape and the personnel were very friendly and helpful.

Boy was I was nervous on that first tee shot (just slightly popped up my five wood and missed a five footer for par) Hit an iron off of 2 + If someone wouldn't have talked in my backswing, on that first long Par 3, LOL (still made par) I think I would have holed it or hit to a foot + if I just would have made that short birdie putt after painting a 7 iron on the no. 1 handicap on the course along with all the other short birdie putts I missed on this day (which I still rate as a great practice round....but overall, loved the challenge and can't wait to play the course, again under tournament conditions (even though the members who were walking behind us seemed about ready to erupt like a volcano, go figure I just get mad thinking about throwing a great round away)_HSBK
Really enjoyed our game
We played the course twice. The pace of play was comfortable as was the weather. Is easy on the ladies if playing from the forward tees. The course was in nice shape for December. We would definitely play here again!
The course is fair.
We had a great experience with the golfcours and the staff.
We are from Switzerland on vacation in Phoenix AZ.
We will tell our friengs in Switzerland about this golf course
