About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in May 2019.
ASU Karsten Golf Course features a Pete and Perry Dye-designed links-style course characterized by design features that challenge, such as Dye's mounding and bunkering - making it important to pick the right golf clubs if you don't want to run up that score. Big-name PGA and LPGA Tour golfers like Phil Mickelson, Billy Mayfair and Grace Park have all played this course.
ASU Karsten Golf Course offers several holes one could call "signature," such as the short par-4 fourth, the tough par-4 ninth, the daunting par-3 16th (248 yards from the tips) and the challenging par-4 final hole. The water on the left side is the reason this is called one of Arizona's most difficult finishers.
After a round at the ASU Karsten Golf Course, check out the 21,000-square-foot Sun Angel Clubhouse, which tempts players with its Southwestern and American fare in the Trophy Room.

Windy
20+ winds so....
180 8 iron with the wind
177 3 hybrid into the wind
Enjoyable, challenging
We played the Champions tees (gold) with the front 9 a whopping 500 yards shorter than back. Loved the front 9 as most par 4’s reachable in 2. Back was another day altogether-wind picked up and last 4 were directly into a. A real challenge coming home
SO SAD TO SEE THIS BEAUTY GO!
Very happy that I was able to get out and play this gem a couple more times before she’s gone! As one of only 3 Pete Dye Design courses ( one private) in the valley.........it’s really sad to see it go. I have always loved playing this track and I think it is a perfect mix of challenge and playability.
Cudos to the greens crew for not just giving up on the conditions......the course from Tee to green was in phenomenal shape and the greens rolled beautifully.
If you have the opportunity you have to play it...............Sun sets the first week of May.
Great weather, good greens
For a course that is to be bulldozed in the next month this place was in great shape. Some of the smoothest greens i have played. Also a great playable speed.
Get out here while you can.
I Wish I Had Played This Course Sooner
First time I played ASU Karsten course and really enjoyed it. Course was in very good condition, especially when you consider that it’s closing in less than 30 days. The first 9 play a bit shorter than many other courses, but using strategy is not a bad thing.
Great prices, condition and layout, it’s a shame it’s days are counting down quickly.
Businessmen
Okay day of golf, i played yesterday because its closing down for good at the end of may and wanted to play it one more time. The value was good because I believe that this time of year you should be able to play most courses for less than $100
Slowest of 12 rounds played this month. The ranger knew it too
A real shame!
Just heard that they are bulldozing this course on May 5th. A real shame! Played this course every year when we have come down for spring break. Great Pete Dye Track! Will be missed!
Still Time
If you’d like to get one more trip around Karsten before it’s gone forever; now is a good time. The greens are great, firm and fast. Be warned, only quality shots from the fairway will hold. Played in 4:20 which isn’t bad for Sunday.
ASU Karsten
Course was in great shape if you hit the fairways/ greens. Dormat Bermuda was pretty rough and bare. Greens rolled great and held pretty good. Was told Course is closing in 2 months. Pretty pricey for a Wed am round but we did play during Spring Season so all prices are jacked up.
Great time
Took two friends who had never played here before and we all had a great time. It's a fun course with moderate difficulty. Too bad it is closing in May.
Great value
Had a blast. Course was more challenging than expected. Would play this again next time I travel down from Alberta.
Fast greens
We played after the holiday and the course was quiet. The greens were fast . Rough was dormant so you can’t get a real feel for the course . Layout is decent and would like to play again . Sand traps were not done not sure if it was due to frost or if this occurs often ? Other reviews have mentioned traps not done
We love hearing from our golfers, but we apologize for your negative experience. We are happy that you took the time to leave us some feedback so we can improve in the future. We hope to have you back.
