Past its prime
It looked to me like this was once a well maintained course that would be fun to play. Now, it's pretty downtrodden. The fairways and greens were in very good shape, but all the traps had been filled with grass or let go into desert land. With so much maintenance that could be done to restore the course, the only worker I saw was painting a rope yellow. True story.
So far, this year I'm finding Tucson public courses vastly overpriced and under maintained. Quite disappointing.
Fun Partners
We were paired with a very nice father & son twosome.
Saw a wide range of sometimes quite negative reviews but decided to check it out. Generally had a good time with no major complaints. Relaxed, casual atmosphere. Do not expect pristine conditions. However, overseeded fairways, greens and areas around greens were in good condition and playable. Sand bunkers around greens have been converted to grass bunkers which is a little quirky. Minimal rough, will usually be hitting off desert lies if missing fairway but most errant shots findable. Greens putt well and fairly fast. Large driving range area, putting green, and practice areas are good. Staff was friendly/helpful. Course in better condition than a couple years ago when last played. Price (73) seems high for experience, but overall nice conditions for muni-type facility.
Fun Course for the Money
Crooked Tree is a fun and challenging course. The fairways and greens were in great shape considering the drought in the Tucson area. Will definitely play the course again.
Pace of play was terrible. There were 2 groups in front that were filming content for Social Media. They were behind by 2 holes
Cafe staff unhelpful
While the course was fun and the pace of play was excellent the cafe staff was unfriendly, unhelpful, and unapologetic. I attempted to order food from the 9th tee box (like every other course) and no-one answered the phone. I called the front desk and the gentleman stated they didn't do orders by phone on the turn and he didn't really know why. When I asked the cafe staff she was rude and said we don't do that. When i asked how long for a hotdog she said 60 seconds. She just had to microwave it. REALLY????? No grill.
Good course for the season
Check in was easy. Carts were nice. I was a single and they paired me with two other singles. Had a good round. The course is a typical desert course. Green fairways with sand and dirt on sides along with areas of carry that were sand and dirt. Greens were in good condition.
You have to realize we are just coming off winter here in Arizona.
Seriously
The only reason I play here is the location, close to home.. This place is an example of pure greed. Very rude staff all around. Range is beat up, they don't work on it enough to keep up with the amount of people using it, very little grass, pitted up creating bad lies, but I presume they are doing that as so you are ready to play the gopher hole infested golf course.. Don't be fooled by the cover..
Don’t care much
Staff just plain rude for no reason, no course or hole maps anywhere, greens need work, fairways good. I don’t think Lee Trevino would approve of the cranky, I’d rather be anywhere but here, attitude of the staff.
pure greed
The management of this facility is exploiting the location of this property. way over priced for what is presented. Most fairways have old bunkers, now waste areas, greens are mediocre at best. Really is astonishing how people continue to pay inflated pricing for a poor product. Wake up people.. this golf facility is ripping you off. $35 is fair price for this golf course..
Don't Wast Your Money
One of the worst courses I've played in Tucson. Save your money and go to a different course
