The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley

About
The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley in Tucson is so named for its stunning vistas provided by the nearby Catalina Mountains. The desert-inspired layout features a rolling terrain that blends in seamlessly with the natural surroundings. Trees dot the golf course and there is also an abundance of native cacti throughout. Designed by Greg Nash, the layout features large, rolling greens that are subtly elevated. The front nine meanders through dry washes and arroyos while the back nine snakes upwards to higher grounds. The back nine is more challenging than the front with more elevated tee shots and sharp doglegs. There is a small lake that comes into play and several strategically placed bunkers throughout. The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley also features a driving range and short-game practice area.

Great Golf Course
I know I’m contradicting myself with ratings but let me explain. First, course is in amazing shape and I like the track. Blue tees are a little short but I could have gone to the tips to make it a little more challenging. The staff seemed to treat members well but it was obvious we were GN patrons by the way we were talked to. Pace of play was horrible. For me it isn’t always about the time it takes to get around. We had to wait on every single shot making it a much longer round than needed. The “Ranger” didn’t seem to care was just out cruising around. The group in front of us played 9 but still somehow on 10 we still caught a group on the tee and waited just like the front…however 18, well they either played super fast or left because that was the only hole we didn’t even see them.
Price was very good for this time of year and again the course was in great shape! The greens much like the rest of the out skirt courses, you better know where the city is because that will determine break or severally decrease the amount of break if it is slipped hard toward the mountain.
Excellent greens
Excellent greens. Staff was amazing. Food was good. No complaints and I will be back
Found our favorite new course!
Challenging but fair golf course with beautiful landscape. Rangers were very friendly and helpful. Amenities were top notch. Clean and functional. Was a very pleasant experience to the point we cancelled the next day at another course to rebook here. We have found our new fave course!
Excellent course conditions except for the bunkers. Challenging track. Very helpful saff that has ice and water available on the course.
The Views
Staff is great. Membership is a little “snooty.” Course is fun and interesting. Some forced carries and layups. Not difficult. Pretty views. A good change of pace from the home course during the discounted summer months.
Great course ... but about those bunkers...
I love playing The Views. The course is challenging enough and the views (not surprisingly) are fantastic. The course is in great shape save for the bunkers. The area gets a lot of rain during the summer that packs the sane and makes it like a parking lot. Staff needs to work on those things. We were told to play them as ground under repair because they were unplayable. Think Silverbell's usual conditions. (That's a garbage course, by the way.) Other than that, it's an excellent place to play.
Full of themselves
Course is in average shape on a year around basis and no where near the exceptional they claim.Tess and fairways fine, greens just not good and numerous wet spots Have played 100's of times as a member. Pace of play is not enforced,
course is busy as are all area courses with closure of Vistoso, area growth and current popularity of golf. Thus staff is full of themselves . One is too busy with cigarette breaks and just totally ignores most members. Another is too busy giving group lessons to novices for cash while blasting music and taking up space on putting green and range while members are warming up. Leader wants to retire, hides in office, ignores what is going on and plugs in spots for his few favorites. For members, time to look elsewhere if one is an avid golfer.
Same old
It’s a great little place but man, they really need to do some work with their team on pace of play and NOT making everyone rush like you’re behind when you are on a 3:55 pace. Starter and ranger friendliness is a challenge at best.
But, great shape, good folks otherwise, good shop x selections and food.

Seeing your five-star review made our day! Thank you so much and looking forward to seeing you back on the greens.

We’re grateful that you took the time to leave us a review and you had a good time! Thanks so much!

Wow! Thank you so much for the five-star review! It is great to know you had a fantastic time during your round and that everything met or went above your expectations. We work very hard to ensure our guests have this kind of experience. We look forward to seeing you back on the links soon!
Been a while
This is the first time I played this course since the late 1990's and I live within 5 miles. I had a much better experience than playing Starr Pass a week earlier.

Welcome back and thank you so much for the five star review! It's great to see you had a good round and hope you will be back soon!
Green in June
The course was in excellent shape for the end of June. The fairways were all green, no burnt-out areas, and the greens were good. Had some weather come in and it cooled things off and made the last 8 holes pleasant.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review and five stars. We really appreciate it! And, yes, it is always such a relief when a little weather comes thru and cools things off. Happy to read you all had a great time!
Fun round!
The greens have been recently aerated and are ready for another sanding. Course should be great in a few weeks! Pace of play was great, finished in less than 4 hours. Staff was friendly, look forward to playing there again in the near future.

Thank you so much for your review. We are happy to read you had a good round and the pace of play was acceptable. We look forward to seeing you back on the links!
Slow pace of play. Greens weren’t very good. Nice layout.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. This season, for agronomical reasons, we did not overseed the fairways, and we apologize that your golfing experience did not meet your expectations. However, we hope you will give us another chance by coming back late spring/summer when the fairways are no longer dormant. We will look forward to seeing you again on the links!
Take Your Money and Game Elsewhere
Not sure if they rebuilt the greens themselves a few years back or hired it out but either way fire the internal builder or get your money back. After all this time still rock hard and patchiness of grass. Understanding they don't over-seed fairways, they are limited in dormant Bermuda grass as things are just coming to life, so expect lots of run off the tee. Indoor staff was certainly nice enough, but another example of how a Ranger (who is probably a volunteer there to get free golf) ruins the day. We were let off the fist tee not on our exact time and no one in from or behind. By the fourth hole, Ranger Rick was telling us we were behind even though no one in front or behind waiting. We played as a foursome in under four hours, so you tell me how that constitutes any discussion about pace. This is my 3rd and last time I will play at this facility....way too much money for a resident guest fee w/ cart for conditions and service we experienced. El Con up the street is a much better option.
