Great experience
Fairways and greens were in great shape. No large divots or ball marks to hamper shots. Very windy the day and time we played. If you don't like the wind I would try to schedule a round that ends before 4pm. Finding the next tee was a bit of a challenge on a couple of holes. We got completely lost on one.
Under construction
The course is under going redesign , so only 9 holes are open. The 9 is a challenge.
What is that
Should not open when it is under major construction or remodeling
South Course in terrible shape
Front 9 fairways had almost no grass, Lake had no water, Some of the tee boxes temporary. Price was appropriately low, but don't expect a bargain. You get what you pay for.
Jack Clark under construction **AVOID**
The front nine at Jack Clark is under construction. HUGE dirt berms along the fairways. Fairway not watered, Temporary tees. Play the Earl Fry course.
Construction zone!!!
I wish we had been told that the course was under heavy duty construction. There are tractors, bull dozers and 20 ft high dirt mounds everywhere. Good luck finding the 3rd tee it's barely marked and on top of more rocks and dirt. Very dusty and rocky. I understand that they are making it better and the 9 hole course is proof of good things to come. But it's harsh out there right now. And a heads up and a discount wouldn't have hurt.
Under construction
Later day for a quicker pace of play. The course is under construction for two holes. The greens were not very good. It was a plush carpet if spike marks everywhere. It needed a good cut.
Course under construction not worth the price.
I was not informed by club house staff that the course was under heavy construction, A lot of the the holes have extremely shortened tee boxes, changing the overall Par of the course. Do the Score cards reflect this? Does the staff tell you? NO and NO, It was the first time i have had to yell Four! because i was about to hit a dump truck on the fairway. This course should be at a much better discount than $37 for 18.
pre-renovation minefield
Jack Clark course awaiting renovation, a mild disaster. shortened holes, pitted, torn up fairways, dump trucks, tractors, calliope music............ I suppose there isn't really much they can do about it. I paid only $27 and was offered a cart. but declined. should be great after renovation. plus they still have crowded Earl Fry course open.
Poor course conditions
Despite the renovations that are occurring there's no excuse for all of the brown grass, hard dirt hitting surfaces, to include tee boxes and broken, old looking tee box markers.
Very poor condition
I'm a genuinely positive person. I played the South Course Saturday and had a bad experience. We missed our tee-time and we were there on the practice putting green waiting. After 15 minutes we checked with the starter and we were informed they do not call out for groups on the south side. We got out 30 minutes late. The condition of the course was as poor as I have ever played in my 12 years as a golfer. The tee boxes were bad, the fairways had more dirt and weeds than grass and the greens were bumpy and inconsistant. Practice range, Restaurant and practice green were all great. I was told the North Course is better. It certainly cant be worse.
A decent golf complex
This golf complex has 36 holes, decent design & decent lauout, the 18 holes we played, namely Jack Clark in remodling stage, so course condition is not good, but still can feel the design and layout, green is also ok.
Too dry , terrible fairways
South side course looks like it's been neglected. Staf is friendly. Food is decent. The price for the south side course is too much. I recommend $25 for a course being renovated.
Bad fairway
It was really bad fairway. No grass on fairway. We also had electric cart ran out of battery and they didn't responded for 30 minutes
George Henderson
Coursenisnin pretty rough condition, as they prepare to renovate. The greens were fair, areas in the fairway were very dry . Different playability than green grass. Finished an early Sunday round in 3 hours. Also checked out the new practice facility, grass area to work on your short game. It looks really nice how it's set up.
Play somewhere else!
The course was in very poor condition and poorly maintained. It was like playing on an abandoned lot at times and very brown/dry! This is the worst public course I have played in the bay area. Thanks
Dear Chuck...
There are current plans in place to remodel the old 18 hole "links" course. With that said, regulars are claiming management is letting the course gradually deteriorate because of the upcoming changes. There are mounds of dirt everywhere and the fairways and greens are completely unkept (patches of dry grass and debris everywhere). I will the say the back 9 is better than the front. If I knew this prior to signing up, I would chosen the other 18 hole. Coming in new, I would have just waited until they finish the remodel. Sorry I don't know the completion date but with all the construction everywhere, I'm hoping sooner rather than later.
On hold
I have played thousands of rounds at "Chuck". That being said, I will not play the south course again until after renovations are complete. The greens were in very good shape, that combined with a 3 1/2 hour round were the highlights. The fairways were rough and dry, the lakes and ponds were dried up and smelled foul. Better than workin' , but....
Good golf course to get your golf swing in shape.
Friendly staff who will get you on the course as soon as possible.
Goats galore
The epitome of a goat track. The Earl Fry course is much better than this one and that is not saying much.
