Sabal Trace Golf & Country Club

I drove down from Sarasota to play this course and met a friend who drive from North Fort Myers. All in all its not a bad course, it's wide open, and I didn't really find many problems with it, except for no rakes in the bunkers.

This course has a reputation, probably deserved, to be in bad condition. Not any more. My three playing partners all expressed concern when I set the tee time at Sable Trace. Any concerns were soon put aside. Greens were somewhat slow but not because they were in bad condition but because of the cut.

A group of us have been playing Sable Trace for several years now. The course at the present time is in the best shape I have ever seen or played it. The greens although slow compared to other courses in the area putt true. The weeds in the greens are a thing of the past. Great work by the course superintendent. Too bad the course is scheduled to close sometime this year for a complete make over. PLay it while you can, before the renovations and I suspect an increase in green fees. $25.00 with a cart after 12 o'clock.

We did not like the fact that they paired us 2 up with 2 others. We didn't know that was the policy. The course was in the best shape in years

Our first time playing course, still needs some work, but we enjoyed playing there, my first time playing on a champion course, I was so in awl, lost my Ohio State metal Marker on course, laying it down before the green, hope who has it , is a
Buckeye, would love to play on course again . Would tell anyone go and enjoy the peace and quite and the beautful trees,

I hadn't played this course in a year. It's in very good shape compared to the past. The greens are in the best condition in years.

Really enjoyed the round on Saturday (3/21/15). Course was in great shape.

Played this course about 4 months ago and it is so very much improved! We enjoyed ourselves, the pace of play was a little pushed a times but over all a great day

Practice area and driving range were good and staff was friendly. The course was a good challenge. Fairways and greens were in good shape. The greens were moderate speed (played in afternoon) but were rolling true. We teed off at 1:35 and finished at 5:45. It was very enjoyable and I will play it again

This course is good value for the area, the pace of play was extremely slow.

Every year since I've been coming down to this area (5) I've played Sabel Trace once to see what kind of shape its in. I have always liked the layout but the greens were always rough, and some years so was the rest of the course. Not so much this year though. The course is in pretty good shape and a good value for the money. I will definitely play it again. Ironic that its now very playable and it scheduled to be redone.

Needs to have more carts available. Almost missed tee times wait for cart to come available

Besides the traps being full of water, the course was in good conditions. A good deal for the money though

Couse was in good shape but the bunkers need work. Most had standing water in them and none were groomed. We got there early and had lunch which was very good. Pace of play was ok, just over 4 hrs to play 18.

Sabal Trace offers a good variety of hole lay-outs that will provide opportunities for just about every club in the bag. Fairway water and bunkers come into consideration on just a few holes, and then only for shorter tee shots. Course conditions are generally good, except in the most used landing areas, where many unrepaired divots can easily provide a bad lie.

Played the course last week, and this was the first time I have been back in a while. I used to play this course 2 or 3 times a week about 10 years ago, but reduced the frequency to 2 or 3 times a year because of the condition of the greens and tee boxes.
I would like to commend the owners/greens keeper on the vast improvement this course has shown in the last 8 to 10 months.
The greens are in the best condition I have seen them for many years and even the Tee boxes and sand traps are much improved.
This course has always had a great layout, and I enjoy playing it, so now you have me back as a regular customer.

Course has water hazards, bunkers, along with some tree lined fairways. We had a fun day !!

i have played this course over the past 3 years. Course conditions continue to improve. Fairways and greens are the best I have seen. There is still room for improvement, but this course is definitely heading in the right direction.
