The 18-hole River Bend Golf Club in Ormond Beach, FL is a semi-private golf course that opened in 1990. Designed by Lloyd Clifton, River Bend Golf Club measures 6821 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 135 and a 72.7 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels.
At River Bend, designer Lloyd Clifton achieved his ultimate goal -- a perfect blend of natural surroundings combined with a competitive and scenic golf course layout. With no home sites, River Bend is situated along the historic Tomoka River. Play among majestic oaks, red cedars, pines and magnolias. Each hole is unique. Hole No. 8 is a long par 5, 616 yards. Hole No. 17 is a picturesque 3 par. No water is featured. A definite must for those who enjoy a blend of competitive golf and nature's offerings.

Hit It Straight
Challenging course cut through dense brush and forest. If you hit it beyond the rough into the woods, prepare to encounter some critters -- lizards, snakes, etc. The greens were in pretty good shape, but a few of them on the front nine had sprigs of crab grass.
Pace of play on the front was fast (1.5 hours), but we caught a slow foursome on the back that wouldn't let us play through.
The course also had some mild elevation changes which made the round more interesting.
Best there is for cit courses
I love this course best layout tree lined great greens.
Closing week
Read about the problems course was having. Vacationing from Michigan,went out with random couple who were local , had a good time. Clerk was having difficulty getting computer to work , cart worker was excellent. As a third golfer they still charged me when I asked to ride alone for the single cart.
You do know it closed in December, right?
They keep asking for reviews.for River Bend. It closed before New Year. I’m sure conditions have deteriorated.
Don’t pay to play.
Course closing
This course will be closing at the end of the year as a result of tax issues with Volusia county. It’s a shame this is one of my favorites.
Since Volusia has so few courses it would seem like the county could try to work something out

Course is closing
Unfortunately the course is closing at the end of December 2020 and the lack of upkeep is apparent. There are weeds growing on the fairways, the greens have bare spots and the tee boxes are patchy.

Decent course with excellent layout.
Greens not very well managed. Slow and have sand on them - need watering. The fairways are in fair condition, but need attention. The golf path is a hazard with big ruts and the bumpiest ride I've ever had taken. Could charge customers and sell the ride as an amusement park thrill ride..

Needs work
Looks like whoever owns it has given up. Greens were in bad shape. The tee boxes were really bad. The cart paths need a lot of work. I got air on a couple of them. I love the layout there but the course is slowing going away until someone starts updating.

Closed
How can you possibly ask for a review on a course that has been closed for six months??? We loved playing here and were very disapointed that they closed!!
Thanks for being open on Thanksgiving
The only downfall was the greens (but they did have they overseeded, so it was expected). I can't thank you and your staff enough for remaining open in the morning to allow folks to play on Thanksgiving. Not everyone has family to be with and the normalcy of play makes it much easier to deal with the holiday if you are alone! Thank you!

great layout, but course conditions notiso great
The fairways were passably playable, but the greens were in sad shape. We live in upstate New York, where the opposite is often true. Probably lost 9-10 strokes on bumpy, sometimes bare greens. Interesting that the women's tees on some short holes gave a major break, but on some of the par fives were ten yards forward of the geezer men's tees.

Wow...gorgeous course, especially for the price. For those complaining about the greens...get real...unless you are a pro , you can accept the average greens...
Not a walking course..I was tired just using the carts..
And if someone finds my Callaway Mack Daddy 60* wedge that I lost on the back nine, please turn it in!!
