Sunrise/Canyon at Spanish Trail Country Club

About
Spanish Trail Country Club offers 27 holes of golf designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The holes are divided into three distinct courses that each offer a different set of challenges. The nines are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Sunrise/Canyon Course stretches to just over 7,000 yards from the championship tees. The front nine finishes with the club's signature hole, which features a cascading waterfall. The Sunrise nine has large, undulating greens and rolling fairways. Accuracy on your approaches is critical since the potential hole locations can be treacherous if your ball is on the wrong side of the hole. The back nine, Canyon, is the longest and most difficult of the three nines. The final trio of holes on this desert golf course will test even the best golfers.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Spanish Trail golf
Course was in very good shape, with one nine already overseeded and a second being prepped now. Greens were in very good condition and rolled true. Members there apparently are not great at repairing ball marks, but no worse than most courses we play. We went out early, 7:50am and played in 3.5 hours.
So slow , left after 9 holes
Pace of play was so bad only played 9 holes.Tee. Time 9:20 , turned at 12 noon . I requested a refund , no chance of that happening .I was told by the marshall the back 9 was in bad shape and pace would be worse . Send me a refund
Old Vegas Beauty!
Had a great time playing a great course. The greens were fast but fair. The course has 3 nines, but one needed some work on it.
We got a special pricing deal, and it was a great value
Awesome Semi-private course
Can't wait to play again. Missed the Lakes since it was closed
Play where the pros playef!!!
27 hole layout usually i ecvellent vondition. Course is fairly flat with generous fairways. Water in play on some holes with a few forced carries
Pace of play not a problem my onky complaint might be that after you book on golf now they add an extra $5.00 per person when you arrive. Seems tacky to me. They have a beautiful clubhouse with reasonable priced beverages and food.
Save your money
They don't tell you when booking that their driving range is closed, yet charge full price and a punitive $5 for water upon check in. Plus sand traps all have rocks in them and some very large ones. Save your $$
Great Day!
Played one final round before heading back home. Was glad I chose this course. It's in great condition and the water features are cool.
Play it now before it goes private (again)
Thanks to GN, I got an incredibly good deal to play Spanish Trail and am very glad I found it. The course will be returning to a private club facility at the end of 2018 and it was a treat to play. I played the Canyon/Lakes nines. Both layouts were fair with a good variety of holes. Even though overseeding was imminent, the course was in very good shape. Overall, the fairways were generous and the greens are generally large but contoured. I found the greens tricky to read and was lucky to have a member with my group to provide tips. Water was in play on a number of holes but it didn’t dominate the layout, even on the Lakes nine. The practice facilities were great and easily accessible. The pro shop and cart service were also very good. The rates will start going up soon but if you can find a good deal before the end of the year, I recommend you jump on it.
As always Trails was in great shape and we had a great round. Would recommend this trent Jones layout to anyone visiting or local.
Hot in Vegas
Yes playing golf in Vegas heat 103 this date but got best “ Hot Deal “ for $45 bucks @ 9 am . Great way to try a never played course and what a beauty.. semi private CC with all the amenities and service , treated you as a member and Courses ( Canyon/ Lakes) we’re awesome . I will be recommending to all my fellow golfers on vacation here.
Pristine
Course was in phenomenal condition. Holes were fun and creative. Only a couple forgettable holes. Greens ran true at a reasonable pace. I normally play blue tees wherever I go, but the tips being over 7k convinced me to play the combo tees. I was happy with that choice and hit everything from wedges to 4-irons into greens. There weren’t many other people on the course, but the cart girl made sure to make frequent rounds and check on me. Couldn’t have asked for a better day of golf.
Excellent country club in a convenient location
Joined this country club recently, and am so glad I did. The Junior Executive membership is an excellent deal. It's a convenient straight shot down Tropicana from my work so it's a rare that I'm unable to fit in at least 9 holes. Being able to play every day has improved my game considerably. There is no shortage of excellent clubs in Clark County, of course, but if Spanish Trail is convenient for you then there's no need to join a more far-flung club.
There are three different 9-hole courses that can be played in different combinations to create three 18 hole courses. The Canyon/Lakes combo is my favorite and the most challenging, but don't sleep on Sunrise either; it's still quite challenging and scenic, especially the 9th hole. The tee boxes are well-placed; a beginner will have a great time playing from the greens and an experienced golfer will find shooting the tips quite challenging.
The staff are incredibly nice and helpful. Hard to single out any specific person because everyone has immaculate customer service 100% of the time. The other club members have been invariably friendly and welcoming
From reading the reviews it seems the club was briefly open to the public, apparently to its detriment. It's private again, and the problems stemming from increased foot traffic are now non-existent. The fairways and greens are in impeccaple condition. If solitude is your thing, this is your place. Once in a while I'll see another player/group on the course but it happens so rarely as to be remarkable.
As this is once again a private club, you'll need to be accompanied by a member. If you're presented with the opportunity to play here, don't pass it up. And if you have time, play all 27 holes.
Peace was slow and no one cared.
First time played and really recommend other Las Vegas courses. You have too pay $5.00 p/p for water and range balls which other courses give you for free. Would not return to this course.
Spanish Trails
Overall thus was a fun course to play. Played from the tips which made it more interesting especially not having played it before.
Great
One of the best courses I have had the pleasure to play. Fairways and greens were perfect. What a well maintained course. Everyone should play this course, what an experience.
