Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run

About
Jack Nicklaus designed the golf course at the Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run. The 18-hole, public course is touted as having one of the best layouts in the area. The par-72 course offers 7,014 yards of challenging and fun golf. Golden Bear Golf Club at Indigo Run's design emphasizes strategy rather than power. Sand and water hazards add interest to the course. In addition to providing a great game of golf, the course also has picturesque scenery with the many oaks and pines that snake though the course. It has been named one of America's Top 100 Courses priced under $100.

Not what it used to be
Overall the course was ok, provided you stayed in the fairway off the fairway is basically bare ground the fairways were ok the bunkers were good, the greens look good but upon closer inspection you could see the old cups all around the cut hole like they weren't moving the cups very far, they were very grainy hard to read, on one hole there was a sunken in trench about 3 inches across and an inch deep going across the entire green looked like a old mole tunnel that really wasn't repaired very well I should have moved my ball instead I putted it and the ball jumped about 6 inches in the air when it hit it needless to say it came up short, I've seen this place in better shape at a lesser price , I won't be back for 100 dollars because my wife couldn't play they charged 30 bucks for a tag along I hope the private course is better, but don't waste your money
Do they care?
I have played this course several times and always enjoy the course because of conditions, challenge and cost. The weather was delightful but the round got off to a 25 minute late start because they didn't have carts and were running behind. The course has 8 minute intervals for tee times and wonders why they are late! No ranger on the course to move groups resulting in a 5 1/2 round. Owner has to be making money, but obviously doesn't care about the players.
Golden Bear @ Indigo Run
Overall experience was very good although pace of play was slow. Course was dry although the area in general and other courses were also dry. Good value for cost ab
Nd staff were excellent
Cons of the course.
Greens Sandy, edge of greens patchy and weedy, bunkers no sand,
Fairways good.
Course is in good shape. Bunkers are a little rocky
Great golf experience
My wife and I really enjoyed golfing here. We were given our own tee time and even though there were several four somes in front of us the pace was move great.
Great course with nice woodsy and residential setting.
Offered some challenging hole locations and water hazard placements. Good fairways to let the driver loose. Overall course was in good shape and we were paired with a nice couple. My wife is a beginner so we were the slow group out there but no complaints from others behind us or any course ranger. A knock would be I showed up with our bags and no one helped get us a cart. When I went in the check in for the tee time he told me to go around back and the cart team should set us up. I still had to wander and find someone to ask for a cart. No one else seemed to have this issue.
Pace of play was awful
Took us 3 hours to play the front nine and 2 hours and 30 minutes to play the back nine. The couple we were with had to leave early in order to make it to a dinner reservation. I think the 8 minute tee times a long with what I think was an oversold tee sheet caused the problem. Rangers were present but weren't able to or didn't do much about the overall pace of play.
