Del Monte™ Golf Course

About
Opened in 1897, Del Monte™ Golf Course is the oldest course in continuous operation west of the Mississippi. Designed by golf and polo enthusiast Charles Maud, this inland course boasts a meandering, hilly layout that has challenged golfers for more than a century.
It was the original host of the California State Amateur-still played on Del Monte's narrow, tree-lined fairways and small,well-protected greens-and continues to serve as one of the three courses on which the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational is played.
Adjacent to Del Monte™ Golf Course, the Del Monte Pavilion offers an inviting outdoor setting for any special event. Whether you are hosting a corporate outing or a tournament awards ceremony, all events are impeccably catered by the Lodge at Pebble Beach.

Monterey's hidden gem...
Go back in time and play a course the way golf was meant to be played - fast and enjoyable. Del Monte Golf Course, built in 1897, is a hidden gem in downtown Monterey that I have been playing since 1994 when I moved to the area. The staff is always friendly, course always in great shape and pace of play is phenomenal. I would recommend playing Del Monte on any trip to the Monterey Peninsula.
Best in the west!
Played early Monday 4/14 morning, great course as always! A must, if your in the area, put this course on your list. Sure they’re others but this track will test your skill, at every level!

Best Bang For The Buck In Monterey
Course played well and greens rolled pretty true even after the greens were punched a few weeks ago. Being in the fairway was a hot commodity. Rough was thick and not very forgiving but added some well deserved challenges for not hitting the fairway. All in all will definitely play here again. Great course to walk and enjoy the great Monterey weather.
We really enjoyed this golf course….
Donn at the desk is outstanding…. Great golf course
Tips and we enjoyed the condition and playability
The rough is sticky…. Avoid at all costs , greens are small and challenging. If I lived in the area I would join the club…. The Duke I believe.. outstanding value for the location ……..
Rare Poor Service Day
Made a reservation two months in advance and 2 days before reached out because of the extreme differential in rates to play. GolfNow was willing to change the time/rate but Del Monte was not and would not allow us too. When we got to the course we checked in under our booked 12:30 time and paid the higher rate. Then before teeing off we were told by a starter that we were 12:40 and even though I showed him the booking and they sent a group out ahead of us. Poor customer service to hold us to our time and rate and then moved our time regardless and were pretty rude about it.
Great shape. Tough greens.
Plenty of room to roam. Had a par, birdie, par, par stretch without ever being in the fairway...
Some greens are large, others tiny. If you're above the hole on many, watch out. Two 200 yard par threes. The rough is deep. Good pace of play. Don, the marshall, is a great guy.
A good day.
The course conditions were very good.
I enjoyed the layout.
The folks in the pro shop, and the starter were great.
My only issue with the course:
My lady friend who played the Green Tees could not carry the "rough" and reach the fairways. I don't see why this cannot be corrected.
Del Monte
The course was good, staff members were nice and friendly. Went had had a snack, drinks were good the fries were delicious.
Great classic course
This is always a great test of golf. The layout is good. A different look for each hole. Staff was great.
A wonderful test of golf
Just a great challenge. Good walking course,
Not far from green to next tee. So much history here. Must play.
An okay golf experience but won’t return
I have wanted to play the old Del monte golf course for the last 50 years. I’m sorry but I under weld. Very few memorable holes. Very flat course/layout. Many holes looked the same. Small greens and rough narrowing fairways. Difficult to find balls in fairway roughs. Spent way too much time looking for balls. Fairways should be cut a little wider. Hit a great drive only to lose your ball over and over again. A.bad round for me is normally 86. I shot a 96 at Del Monte. Greens did not ring true or for anyone in my foursome. Sorry but won’t be returning to this course.
Great course for long hitters
Great course and layout. Difficult to stay in play.
Need to carry 150 - 170 yards to reach fairways. We are seniors and had to pick our well hit (for us) balls out of the rough and place them in the fairway. We called it “the Del Monte rule” so that we could keep up our pace of play and not have to record a score of 140! Only complaint was the lack of senior tees.
Great course
Del Monte is a well kept secret on the Monterey Pennisula. Wonderful course and absolutely great staff. Don is the best.
