Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course

About
Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course is situated along the banks of the Sacramento River. The course has a diverse layout with a few tough holes, but overall it's player friendly enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. Accuracy and proper club selection are two major factors to scoring well on this golf course. This is especially true on the par-4 sixth, which has a large lake that makes cutting the corner a near impossibility. Too far left and you'll face a watery grave on this tough hole. That is not the only challenging water hole you'll face, though. Bartley Cavanaugh's 17th is the golf course's signature. Although this par 3 is seemingly mild at only 107 yards, it shouldn't be underestimated since it was modeled after the notorious island green hole at TPC Sawgrass.

All good except!
Love the course, nice layout. Great condition, ( for covid 19 allowments) .
I don't like that ya cant get senior or veteran discounts, if your outta towners. Drive 1 1/2
To get there and be penalized for it!.. still great value
Fun course & OPEN!
Played the course twice now and both times came away very happy with it. First off, they are open! so a BIG THANK YOU! The course is easy to walk, has a host of fun and interesting holes, and the pace of play was great on both occasions.
The course is not long, in fact the only negative is it feels like 18 holes jammed into the space for 15. This means a few holes have greens and tee boxes very close together. The positives far out weigh the negatives however, as I personally love golf courses with variety... and this course has variety! Like long par 3's? Check! Like short par 3's over water? Double check! Want a par 5 a mere mortal can hit in two? Yep! How about a monster 440 yard par 4 with water all along the right side? They have that too! In fact after the 3rd hole, this course really get's comes into it's own!
Give this fun little gen a shot, you won't be disappointed!
course is in good shape
course is in good shape for winter, greens were great, fairways were solid.
course is in good shape
The green's were in great shape, at time the fairways were a little thin, but to be expected.
A great course...
Only our second time playing this course, but it has become one of our favorites. A beautiful layout with lots of water and even an island to shoot at!
Nice challenge for a not-so-long course
I had heard good things about Bartley Cavanaugh so I was keen to play. I had a 7 am tee time and was paired with another single and we had a very enjoyable 3 and a half hour walking round.
Course is well conditioned with tough, undulating greens and long, penal rough (this is was some of the toughest rough I have seen in a long, long time playing). Fun layout that will challenge all levels.
Ball marks
Everything about this course is as positive as could be expected except for way to many ball marks on the greens. Most average or less skilled golfers can seldom hit the ball good enough to leave a mark, so you “experts” get with the program and FIX YOUR MARKS!
Good value
I played solo on a Monday morning and had no one in front or behind me. Check in was easy, and there is a warm up net and no driving range. The course is short (6100) from the tips so you can actually play the entire round without bringing out the driver. There are one or two dog legs, minimal sand, a few holes with water, and no elevation change. The course is squeezed into a small piece of land with every hole closely bordering a neighboring hole or the outer boundary.
Without any hold up and not rushing either, I played the round under three hours from my 6:30 tee time. Breakfast came with the round and made the whole experience a great value for $45. All staff I encountered in the pro shop and bar were friendly.
Love this course!
From start to finish this course was awesome! The staff met us at the door in the Pro shop, the food was amazing and everyone had a smile on their face. As far as the course goes it is definitely a challenge, although not the longest it certainly requires accurate shots the rough is unforgiving!
Good conditions
Considering the rains this season, course was in very good condition. Some standing water a couple low areas and bunkers but fairways and greens were good.
Double booked
I booked on GolfNow only to find out that they double booked the tee time. It made for a 5 plus hour round and waiting behind a three-some on every hole. We were a foursome with one single digit guys and the other 3 around 12 handicappers. They didn’t know how to use there own system to book. If there’s an agreement with a booking agency, yuh may want to check with them before booking the course up and finding you have double bookings throughout your day.
Nice Monday Round
The Bartley Cavanaugh course played really well. The greens were true and I love that they have very few holes with sand traps. Our twosome would have finished 18 holes in 3 hours 15 minutes, but got held up. Great day otherwise.
Didn’t get to play
Unfortunately I didn’t get to play because of Ice. The temperature was around 31 degrees when I arrived and the course had an ice alert. The pro shop was very professional and rescheduled me for another day and I was very happy they took care of me.
Even Better on a Weekday
Friday Twilight Tee Time
Round Lasted 3:30h
Quick play on Fridays. Middle of days it’s a great course to take advantage of the hot deals. Can play for as little as $17 if you book day of. Grounds are well manicured and a tough play. If you don’t stay in the middle you will have a tough time. Fairways feature many hills and hazard linings. Greens are soft and speed depends on time of year (summer-fast). Overall just a great place to play that makes you feel like you played for half price.
