A little expensive
Played Washington National recently early on a Saturday afternoon, with a military discount it was still around $130. I've paid that much many times in the past, but after playing I thought it was a little expensive.
Had a starter, but he was useless - didn't ask if we've played it, no course tips - made me wonder why he was even out there. My cart didn't even have sand dispensers on the sides, I thought that was weird. Although I did see some that did. Not a lot of room to spray the ball, so you had to be somewhat accurate. Course conditions were very good, and really liked the greens. Multiple shelves on the greens and you need to be able to hit it on the right one.
Saw the beverage cart multiple times. And snack bar in the clubhouse was fully stocked.
I would go back, I just think it's a little overpriced. Pace was around 4:30 for a weekend afternoon round. Guess that is to be expected.
Fun but chilly round
I enjoyed the course and experience. The course plays long and some aspects of target golf. It provides a good challenge. Fairway was in good shape. Greens ran very slow. Greens in general were a good challenge with shelves, saddles and variety. I was fortunate to play with someone who had played the course often. Best advice was to live with green in 3 on Par 5s. 17 was most fun with avoiding water on three shots to the green. Enjoy.
Fun, but could be really special.
I played Washington National as a birthday present and was really looking forward to playing it after spending time researching golf courses in The Seattle Area.
The course design is modern and can plays on the longer side. The fairways are wide and have good roll, and each hole is littered with, strategically placed, deep bunkers. Which created a lot of fun risk reward decisions throughout the round. The greens were were varied in shape, size and undulation and rolled true. The tee boxes were not in rough shape, either.
However, like what seems to be the story with most Oki golf courses, the management seem to make lots of cost cutting decisions and deferring maintenance on parts of the course and clubhouse. The most glaring of which being the molestation and removal of many of the waste bunkers on the course and replacing the white sand with gravely, pebble laden dirt, draining water hazards, including the mote on hole 15, the carts had busted windshields and cracked seats, the pin flags were sun bleached and faded, and the clubhouse was in need of new paint.
All in all, the course was a fun, challenging and fair layout, but if there was some real care taken to maintain the course it could be one of the top tracks I’ve ever played.
Cart path only is terrible
Not worth the money we paid to play to. Very disappointed with the course condition...the cart path only rule...soggy and sloppy conditons....they really should not be charging as much as they are.
What a Joke
I have played this course many (+25 times) over the years and this was by far the worst experience and last time.. They say that a cart is included however that depend on availability. They rushed a cart to us right as we were getting ready to tee off on 1st. Thankfully it appeared to have been cleaned. Then the cart died on the 15th, right before the only steep hill to climb on the back nine. .We ended up walking the rest of the way.
i don't want to sound like i am whining about the carts but these were pathetic My point is that if you pay over $100 and they say a cart is included I expect to have a cart that works the whole 18.. Courses that cost half the price have carts that are in better shape.
They have lost a long time customer. I will not be back.
Long & Beautiful
I've now played it 3x and it has dominated me everytime. Plays super long from what we thought were the "blue tee' equivalent. I will go back at least once more to get a score I know I am capable of there. Moderately recommend but I think there are better options closer to Seattle.
Nobody does it better
I've played Washington National several times and this course is always friendly when it comes to drainage, wide fairways and big greens. It rained all morning & afternoon yesterday so we played twilight after the wet weather. There was only minor puddles in a few places and the course drained impressively well considering the storm earlier in the day. The greens still rolled fast and the fairways had some roll without plugging. It makes sense why University of Washington has chosen this as their home course with how much it rains here. I usually have some of my best rounds here because of how wide it is and the greens are big targets. My brother even had a hole-in-one on 16 last time we played here and he is a high handicap golfer. The staff is made up of friendly college students and they sell cheap tall boys of Rainier at the turn. The value can range to expensive during peak times and good deals during twilight. This is one of my favorite courses to play in the Seattle area and out of the Oki courses. It's worth the trip down to Auburn if you are looking for a dry course with a beautiful layout.
Staff
Since my 13 year old son is a golf addict I have played plenty of courses over the past year. One thing I can say for certainis the staff here is top notch and the best in the biz! Always welcoming!
Washington Nat’l....home of the Huskies
A hard yet fair test of golf from all tees. Greens were firm with much contour. Can’t ask for more from a round in late fall.
It is a shame to see that this great course has gone down hill
I have lived in the Seattle area for almost five years and I have purchased the Oki Card every year that I have lived here. It used to be a great value and the courses were always top notch. I played last Saturday with two good friends and on the first fairway we notice a lot of brown spots. When we got up to the green, the grass was just as bad. Not sure if there is some sort of a fungus growing, but it looks downright terrible or the grounds crew decided to stop watering the course.
Weird thing is that we have had a somewhat wet summer in the Seattle area and it has not been hot at all. Mostly overcast and cloudy all summer, so the course should not be brown and looking sickly.
I also noticed that all of the coolers on the course were bone dry. Could not get a drink of water, unless I paid for it when the beverage cart came around.
Not a great experience all around. Greens were in good shape, but that is I can say positively about the whole round. Everything else was disappointing.
One of my favorites
I drive about an hour from the north side of Seattle to Auburn at least once a week to play this course because I truly believe it is one of the better experiences in the area. The course is challenging but fair - and it has championship-level length to it as well from the deeper tees. But it is generally in great shape regardless of season, and I've always found the staff to be friendly and engaging.
One of my favorites
Washington National is one of those course designed for all level players. We've played it for years and it's always a great challenge. Course conditions are super, especially good this last winter.
Highly recommended.

We couldn't agree more--the course is challenging and fun for players of all abilities! Thanks for the awesome review. We hope to see you out here again soon!
Washington National
Course was in very good condition for winter play.Drains very well. Greens in excellent condition as well.

Thank you for your review, jparker4. We're glad you enjoyed your round and hope you'll be back again soon!
Afternoon Golf
I snuck out and played 9 holes on a weekday afternoon. It took about 2 hours as lots of other folks had same idea. Course is in good condition overall. Greens are still a bit sandy and slow. Bunkers are wet and firm. They have a small club house with about four beers on tap. Its a great winter value if you arrive on a nice day. The only draw back is that singles cannot make a tee time. We have to walk-on and take our chances.

Thanks for coming out, Jesse! We're glad you enjoyed your afternoon round.
Washington National GC
A gracious welcome from the pro shop staff. I think they were pleased to have more than a few die hard golfers out playing under gloomy, overcast skies and a steady light rain falling. The kind of day when top of the line rain gear pays huge dividends.
With todays wet weather and incredibly soft conditions, deciding which tee box to play off was an important decision. There were areas of standing water on many of the wide fairways so even well struck tee shots didn't run out. As a huge fan of great bunkering on any course I was blown away by both the waste bunkers and the brilliant white sand bunkers on this course. I only had to play once out of the waste bunkers when I snap hooked my approach shot into the generous green on Hole 18.
Weather and wet conditions aside, Washington National provided a great layout and a good test of golf. Would love to play again...but under ideal conditions.

Thanks so much for coming out, David! We're so glad you enjoyed your round despite the infamous Seattle rain you endured. We'd love to have you out here again soon!
Not a good experence
I'm a 12 index and I play in a tournament every weekend somewhere in Western Washington. We had a two day tournament the 26th and 27th of Aug 17, Washington National on Saturday and the Home Course on Sunday.
The greens at Washington National where in very good shape, but that's about the only good thing I can say about the course. 10 to 20% of every fairway are dead grass or bare dirt, 8 of my drives in the fairway ended up on dirt. On hole 17, my drive and lay up shot (both in the fairway ended up on dirt. I was in 3 sand traps and one of the was hard pan, the other two there where lots of rocks in them, I put a nick in my SW getting out of one of them hitting a rock that was under my ball that I could not see.
I was charged $95.00 for the round that included a cart, I like to walk and the still charged me for the cart.
After the round I went back into the pro shop to express my disappointment of the condition of the course and there response was "everybody is entitled to there option"
They took my contact information down and said that someone would get back to me to talk to me about my experience. It's been 5 days and I've not heard back from anyone.
Married
We just got married here and it was beautiful. The staff made everything so easy and fun to work with. The course is magnificent, the prices to get married there were rock bottom prices but we got rock star treatments! We had funny traditions that everyone was great with and we got to work with the most amazing person ever, his name is ANDREW. This man will take an otherwise stressful day and make it into a magnificent beautiful event. Stating that it was great customer service is an understatement, he even went as far to give us his cellphone number! Now that is dedication. I knew a few other people who were getting married and heard of the horrors, we were so lucky to find this venue and to be able to work with all the staff and the GREAT Andrew. I am so appreciative of everything that was done and would recommend this place to anyone that is trowing a party, event or wedding! This place is amazing, the staff are all friendly and awesome and Andrew is THE MAN. Great job, great place.

This is called golf advisor, not hey, we had a wedding here and it was great advisor.
Early Morning Golf
Played again, this time at daybreak. It was cold and had rained recently. The course was in great shape considering the time of day and the amount of rain. Stay out of the bunkers, there are some pea size gravel mixed in with the sand. The greens rolled true and about 9. I really enjoy the final 4 holes. The staff is the very best at any course I've played.
We're sorry to hear this. Please rest assured that we are constantly working to better course conditions as we understand there is always room for improvement. We have shared your comments with our teams and the General Manager as well. If you would like to share additional feedback regarding any of Oki Golf's golf courses, we'd be happy to hear from you. You can reach us at feedback@okigolf.com. Thank you for your review.
