The Home Course

About
The Home Course in DuPont is considered one of the best public golf courses in Washington. Throughout the walkable layout, golfers will enjoy scenic views of the Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier. It's a long course at 7,424 yards from the back tees. The challenging greens play fast and true, and they are complemented by wide fairways with generous landing areas. There are several challenging holes where you'll face strategically placed bunkers and subtle, but tricky elevation changes. The golf course begins with a few open, parkland holes and then it gets more challenging. The seventh hole is one of the toughest, starting from an elevated tee to a green that is neatly tucked behind a lake. The final holes provide stunning mountain views for a memorable finish.

Nice Round
Did The Home Course as part of Chambers Bay's "Championship Experience" . Package comes with cart and with range balls. Carts are electric with GPS, they were nice.
Course is good, greens rolled decent and bunkers not bad. Seemed to be some patchy areas in the rough, but no issues in fairways.
We had early AM tee time, so pace wasn't an issue. Finished in just under 4 hours, Marshall was visible multiple times. Saw the beverage cart a couple times, the turn also comes back to #10 if you need anything.
If ever in the area again, I would go back.
Clear your calendar
Make sure to clear your calendar because a round here will take you the better part of your weekend. We teed off on Friday morning, made the turn Saturday afternoon, and finished the round just before sunset on Sunday. I celebrated the birth of my first - and second child - while waiting for the green to clear on 14. I asked the first marshal what was holding up pace and he said he’d check. I guess he must have died on the course because we never saw him again. Missed my first born’s high school graduation while putting on 18. Would play here again, but not sure I’ll live long enough.
Best golf ever
The home course is a great course for the beginner or seasoned player. Beautiful views and challenging golf.would recommend to anyone wanting to have a great all around golfing experience.
Disappointing course conditions
Was very excited to get out and play this course after hearing such great things from many other players. I wish I would have had my phone to take some pictures of the greens, but they were in the worst shape of any greens I have played this summer. I don't know when the last time they were rolled or maintained. It was the worst putting expeirence I have had in a long time. For the price and the beauty around the course, I was hoping for more.
Good course layout
Great course conditions with links style fairways/fescue and fast greens. Friendly staff but tee sheet was overcrowded for a Sunday during Memorial Day weekend. Currently working on a new clubhouse that looks to be very nice. I would recommend this course to anyone up for a good challenge.
Best bang for the buck
Challenging course with tees for all skill levels. One of the best winter courses to play, great drainage and never soggy.
Scenic, fun with challenge
The Home Course is well maintained and has five tees for as much challenge and length you want. Generous fairways putting 2nd shots a premium. Good sized greens with destinct pin placements, again emphasizing 2nd shot placement. Avoid bunkers around the greens. Par 3's are definitely above average. Views of the puget sound and Mt. Rainier on hole #2&3 are a real treat. Great service and staff really promotes the game of golf with great ethic.
Great round with friends
For some reasons it always rains when I play The Home Course. Not today finally. I enjoy the layout at 6000 from the whites. As an almost Super Senior golfer it is a good distance at sea level for me to play. Course was in very good shape greens rolled well although a couple were a little “chewed” up. Is it too much to ask to fix your ball marks.
Only real negative is traffic through and around Tacoma. Leave plenty of time to get there in the morning going north after your round will most likely take more time.
First time at the Home Course
After hearing a lot about the Home Course, I had the opportunity to play it. The course was in good condition and the greens were a bit bumpy (some moss/different grass in spots) but otherwise rolling well. We did have backups on some of the par 3’s but the rangers were out ensuring that everyone was sticking to the pace of play. Wide fairways, but the fescue in the rough was difficult if you wandered too far off of the fairways. The weather was fantastic and the views were spectacular. I am looking forward to making it down again for another round soon.
Enjoy
This is a great course and a lot of fun to play. Some of the holes have a view of Puget Sound and are fairly open. Needs a club house.
Greenskeeper taking the winter off
Greens hadn't been cut in the months. There should've been some sort of warning about the greens. hour long drive to get to the course. If you're not gonna cut the greens for months there should be some sort of a warning. There may be a good reason for it but the general public should be warned or some sort of discount for poor conditions.
Wet Windy Northwest Winter Fun
Was the weekend before Christmas and all I wanted to was golf . So I did. I got on GolfNow and booked a round at the home course for $25. The Forecast was 45 degrees and windy and rainy. Didn't stop me from wearing shorts and enjoying this course. Even after all the rain we had in the area the course only had maybe one soggy spot and it was off the beaten path...About 15 yards from where I wish my ball was.
I will hopefully be able to pay full price next summer to experience this course in all its glory and sunshine.
I have no complaints other then they need to get a permanent club house. The trailer is not becoming of a course like the home course.
Great Fun Even Punched Greens & Rain
We knew the greens would be punched and it was going to rain. But we drive the 1+ hour drive to get there. We were not disappointed. Nice lay out, long but fair, will come back again!
challenging golf course. Approach and short game shots need to be above avergae. Greens are "normally" excellent.
Should have been stated that greens were still very sandy. Had to play automattic 2 putt. Like Sahara Dessert. Wasn't worth the $$$ even though cart was included.
Good course, even if was sandy
Had great time playing,, only problem was on golf now it didn't say the greens where being airifide but the pro shop was nice and took care of us for on a cart so felt they made effort to make up for error weather it was there's or golf nows. Nice course otherwise
it was mid-winter? kinda expect variable green conditions in winter.
