Chechessee Creek Club

About
The Chechessee Creek Club golf course is often referred to as a throwback, which it is in almost every way imaginable, including the length of the course. The layout tips out at 6,641 yards, bringing shot making and club selection back into the strategic realm.
Members also enjoy one of the game's great traditions via the club's caddie program. Caddies are mandatory from the first tee-time in the morning until the early afternoon.
Course architects Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore were presented with a lush canvas of mature low country pines and oaks nestled by the languid waters of Chechessee Creek.
Probably the most difficult hole at Chechessee Creek Club is the par-4 eighth, which stretches 440 yards from the back tees. There are bunkers everywhere, including the deep bunkers on each side of the long and narrow green.

Well worth the effort of getting there
I didn't know what to expect. I had heard that this place was great, but wasn't sure what sort of an experience it would be. Turns out, it was just what some have told me.
This course is walking only, and you must take a caddie, so be prepared. But the caddies are great and extremely helpful, especially with reading the greens, which were fiery fast and had tons of movement.
I loved this place. Everything about it. Neat holes, cool looks, great variety with good company. Can't beat it.
Top notch club
Exactly what you would expect from a very exclusive private course. As soon as you turn into the course you notice the beautiful tree lined driveway. The clubhouse has every amenity you need for before and after your round. As for the course, I could not locate one blemish on the whole thing thing. Absolutely stunning and every hole keeps you thinking with not one looking the same as any other holes throughout the round. Mandatory caddie for the round which I’m not a fan of but my caddie (Reese) was on point with club selections and green reading. If you get the chance to get on the course, pass up every other course in the area and play this one.
Not that memorable.
Had heard many good things , but was not impressed. Condition was very good. Nice practice facility. Had 2 caddies for the 4 of us, one was very good and the other was not really interested in being there. If I returned, could most likely not be able to remember more than 4 or 5 holes. None of the holes were that memorable Next time to the area, we do not plan on making it one of the chosen courses. Many other better choices for the price and challenge in the area.
Wonderful experience
Wonderful course and great overall experience. It's truly a golfer's paradise. The facilities are a+ and the staff is very friendly. The course plays surprisingly long and can be particularly challenging around the greens. Overall it's one of the best I've played in the area and I highly recommend it to anyone able to visit
Great day at a great club
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left it was a tremendous experience. Staff was very attentive, caddies were great, very knowledgable and personable. The breakfast was great, hot and ready, and I recommend eating in the locker room while watching Sportscenter!! Great practice facilities, course was in amazing shape, challenging green complexes, elevated and well guarded, a true test of the short game. One of the best venues I've ever played!!!
This is a fantastic golf course
I played this course in mid April and it was in great shape. This course is fun but it is very challenging to play. Elevated greens make for some interesting chipping decisions if you miss the green. The amenities are top notch and the caddies are knowledgeable and personable. I don't think members of the public can play here. I knew a member and played as a guest
