Wolf Creek Golf Course

About
Since 2001 Wolf Creek has earned a reputation as one of the toughest golf tracks in the Atlanta Metro area. Wolf Creek boasts a 7028 yard par 72 championship layout with bent grass greens which is just one of the reasons Golf Digest selected Wolf Creek as the best course near Hartsfield Jackson Airport. The Mike Young Designs course incorporates both low flatlands holes, bordering many wetland areas, and holes with dramatic elevation changes. Wolf Creek has four sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. A practice range and practice green allow for serious work on your golf game or just a warm-up before your round.

Good course could be cheaper
Love the layout of this course. Very challenging if you cannot hit off the tee and do not know the layout. Wish it was a little bit cheaper to play and then I would recommend playing all of the time. I have played a lot of different courses that are better and cheaper but overall a really fun course to play. The clubhouse and range are okay but not really sure why it cost so much.
Great course!
Course is in great condition with a super nice staff and great pace of play. Only things lacking are off course amenities, and most notably, drinking water. A cooler of water for sipping every few holes isn’t too much to expect, especially at $80 for a round, right? Other than that it’s a very enjoyable course and definitely recommended. Just be sure to bring enough water.
Poorly Managed
1st. You can’t drive to the driving range. You have to carry your bag then carry it back to the cart.
2nd. Their online payment app does not work.
3rd. They don’t sell beer or allow you to bring it in.
4th. Pro Shop is poorly merchandised. Not even a logo ball.
5th. Staff is rude from the checkin to the starter.
6th. Driving range is dirt.
Great course
I don’t know why this course had some bad reviews. Maybe those were old but me and my buddies we played here yesterday and the course is absolutely beautiful. It is well taken care of staff is extremely friendly. The carts are brand new. They probably renewed the cards after some of these reviews, their electric Comfortable seats and have the map on the screen. The reason we played here was because it was close to the airport and we wanted to hit the ground running and it was absolutely worth it. I live about an hour away from the course but honestly, I would make the trip just play here again.
Hidden Gem Near Atlanta
Yesterday was my first time out at Wolf Creek and we could not have asked for a better experience. We had the course to ourselves and the weather was perfect. Grass is in great shape with well manicured fairways and greens. Looks like they just redid all of the bunkers. A lot of tree work wrapping up. Excited to get back out to wolf creek to see how it continues growing in. Would recommend to any level of golfer.
Great greens
The course is in great shape and we felt like we were alone on the course. A few tee boxes were in poor condition. And they were clearing out a lot of trees while we were there. Changing the course significantly but removing the trees.
Well worth the time and money
Traveled to Atlanta for business and decided to get a round in. Previous 3 days had rained heavily, so I knew the course would be soggy and likely cart path only.
Paid just over $40 for 18, a cart, and a small bucket. Unfortunately, the starter informed me thay the range was closed, which is to be expected after all that rain, and went out of his way to make sure I got a refund.
I was paired with 2 students from Georgia Tech and we got along well. Nice big putting green to practice on, and due to all the rain, it hadn't been mown in a while, so I knew all the greens would be super slow.
Course itself is outstanding for a muni. Challenging without being overly unfair, you start with 5-3-5-3 for the first 4 holes which is a fun change from all the courses thay start with par 4s. 7000 from the tips became more like 7800 with not roll out due to the wet ground. Lots of tight tee shots than make hitting driver risky, so I hit a lot of long irons and hybrids off the tee.
Plenty of elevation changes, with multiple blind uphill tee shots on par 5s and multiple downhill tee shots on par 3s, so if you can find someone to play with who knows the course, it'll save you some lost balls like I had from hitting to spots I thought were safe but weren't. But the view from many of the tee boxes was amazing, especially as the sun came out.
As expected, greens were super shaggy and slow, which is understandable. The bunkers were obviously packed from the rain, but the 2 shots I hit out of them came out a lot like regular splash shots, which attest to the quality of the sand in the traps itself.
If I had one complaint, it's one I seem to have with a lot of munis, which is the tee boxes. Some were almost all sand, and wet sand isn't ideal to hit irons on. Aside from that, the only other negative (for me) is that it isn't a very walking friendly course. I always ride a course I've never played before so I can determine if next time I can carry my bag (what I prefer), and this one does not qualify as one I'd want to walk. Lots of hills and multiple long walks from the last green to the next tee, including 9 to 10. There is no "turn", but you can go to the clubhouse from 9, but it requires a length ride to get there.
Aside from those few "negatives" and the conditions due to the weather, I'd say this is one of the nicest munis I've ever played. I'd love to come back some day and play again in better conditions to give a truer assessment. We'll worth the money and time to experience, highly recommend.
Not worth the cost
Greens were in decent shape, but that’s about where the positives end. Tee boxes and fairways were in poor condition. Greenside areas lacked grass so any errant approach shot left you hitting off dirt. No beverage cart, and didn’t sell alcoholic beverages in the clubhouse. I was hoping gold had improved at wolf creek, but I won’t be back.
Only getting better....
Played WC for first time in 6 months. Course is in good shape. Greens were excellent. The Course Marshall did an excellent job of keeping things moving along, so the pace of play was pretty good. Staff is super friendly, place is well run. Glad to see some $ being put into this course.
Staff more than accommodating , very welcoming and pleasant. Course needs lots of work . Blind shots for people playing for the first time is very confusing . Holes with environmental areas not well signed and power cart shuts down therefore you have to reverse out of area . There is no consistency to how far you can go with power cart when approaching green.. no signs again power cart shuts down. Last hole is a traffic nightmare. You have to go back and around , therefore group behind is hitting into you .
Slow Pace Great Staff
We played on a really nice day at a popular time so the pace was very slow because of the crowded course. One of our players lost his cell phone and the staff tracked it down and found us to return it. We love the layout at Wolf Creek and were happy that they removed several troublesome trees from the course!
Tough Course
Challenging fun course. Tee boxes were not in great shape and still some ongoing course maintenance/construction in certain areas.
