College Fields Golf Club

The course was challenging but not without options, and it had some interesting architectural features. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Not a cloud in the sky beautiful Michigan sunny day. The course was in great condition couldn't ask for anything more.

First things first was greeted by a very rude lady who would not show respect to anybody in my group. The course itself is not in bad condition but the issue I had here was with the staff. My group was playing and on the second hole and a cart with the rude lady from before was coming around to what seemed like check on pace of maybe or something else you’d except. Nope, while my group was on the Teebox she proceeded to stop next to our carts unzip and open up our bags and start searching through. This is something that I’ve never seen before and was completely shocked, when I told her in a very nice tone that I didn’t appreciate her opening all of our bags she then cursed me out saying she would call the police because she found an old beer in the bottom of my bag that had been there for months and I had already bought alcohol from the pro shop and this still happened… The beverage cart lady was very nice and the only staff member I had good encounters with, she was great.

In the end I will never recommend this place to anybody or ever return based on the fact that they feel like they have the power to search through your golf bag at any point and completely stereotyping my group Because when I played the same course with an older gentleman a month ago they were very respectful and did not search our golf bags.

I’ve played this course probably two dozen times. Honestly College Fields is probably my favorite course in the area, but I can’t afford to play it anymore. It is cool and the links style is unique for the area, but it’s overpriced. $67 for 18 holes?! That’s obscene especially when most customers are college students who are already tight on costs. Worse yet, I was told by the pro shop worker that the beverage cart was out on the course when in fact it was not. On the day in question it was nearly 90 degrees and I became severely dehydrated and thirsty. At the end of the day, this is a $45 course masquerading as one charging $67. Shame.

Pretty course, no issues with pace. Greens were recently aerated (is what it is), only issue was 4 greens on the back 9 were so heavily sanded I picked up and moved on.

Was very pleased with the course layout and conditions. Course was by no means easy, but very fair. Huge fan for the price and will most definitely be back!
