Victoria Hills Golf Club

About
Victoria Hills Golf Club located in Deland has jaw-dropping beauty. Golfers will appreciate Roland Garl's vigorous bunkering, which oscillates between the expansive and the intricate, depending on the hole. An array of pot bunkers, waste bunkers, native wetlands, water sprays, bunkers integrated within a natural setting, and elevation changes rarely seen on a Florida golf course await you. Garl's course is graceful and feminine
Victoria Hills could easily be called "The State of Florida's Garden of Golf,"- inland settings such as this are virtually unprecedented in this state. Yet while the splendor and natural beauty of the property are notable, this is not simply eye candy and lazy golf. Victoria Hills, as one player put it, "is a blast to play". In any evaluation, it's difficult to imagine how a golfer would not rate a round here as one of their most enjoyable in Florida.

Greens are so much better than 4 months ago
I jumped on a TeeOff special for $34. The greens were in good condition than when I played 4 months ago when they all were mostly sand and bare. They had fired the then green’s keeper. There was a temporary green on the par 5, 5th hole. That green looked to be in the same condition as it was 4 months ago. In this area there hasn’t been any rainfall in like 20+ days. So kudos again to the staff for keeping the course in playable conditions. I will play this course again when I’m back in the area and if another special comes up.
What you see is not what you get!
The course layout is almost picture perfect to the eye, but the actual playing conditions leave much to be desired. Hadn't played here in a while so was anxious to see if there were any improvements.
Too many bare spots in the fairways, too many roped off areas not allowing you onto the fairway when necessary so that you're back-tracking, yardage markers imbedded in the ground and not easily seen making proper club selection difficult. Very frustrating for two senior golfers who quit after nine holes.
Dry and sandy
I like this course I play it probably several times a year. It’s a long way from my house, but the terrain is good and variety of holes is good …conditions right now by virtue of the drought is pretty sandy and some of the greens are in pretty sad shape. I wouldn’t play there if you haven’t ever played there before cause you might be disappointed but I’m still gonna play there because I like it when it’s better.
Fun to play
We enjoy playing this course there are some greens in need of work but they are trying a very enjoyable round for the money
trending up
This is a great course that has had a tough go of it lately. I stopped booking it a couple of years ago when course conditions took a nosedive. I'm delighted to say that things are definitely trending up. Aside from the green on #5 and parts of a couple others, conditions were better than all of the other $60 courses in the area. It's obvious that they care, which sadly hasn't always appeared to be the case. The staff was friendly and helpful. Nice job everyone. I'll be back soon.
No recent progress
I play here every couple of months and was disappointed on the lack of progress this Spring. There was a lot of progress last Summer and Fall but not so much this year. The fairways are green and were fertilized but the bad areas are not being attended to, seems they are just hoping grass will just come back. 14 of the Greens are in very good shape but 3 are bad with number 5 being horrendous (time to redo it). Goose grass all over Fairways and some on some of the greens? Prices are still way too high for this course until it gets better.
Good Course - Needs TLC
It is a good challenging round of golf for all experience levels, but for Needs TLC:
Tee Boxes and Fairways need more grass.
Some of the greens need new grass.
All of the Tee Box areas need new amenities, Ball washers, trash receptacles, etc., and they all need either a stone etched or even nice wooden map of the course hole .
Bathrooms on the course need remodeling / updating.
Player’s Layout
Would not expect a course like Victoria Hills in Florida. The layout demands attention to your intended line of play and is a target golf layout. Although one green still needs work, and some tee boxes are a little thin on grass the course is very playable. Our group finished 18 holes in just under 4 hours and and then enjoyed refreshments in the Sparrow Grill. We will return.
diamond in Deland
This course is by far the best for price Course around.. there are a few holes that the greens are being worked on, but overall best bang for the buck in Central Florida, It also has a Great Staff. And has a challenging but difficult course layoff.
Another fun round
Played this course many times and that should answer your questions. Every time it's fun and can be challenging. Weather helped this time. I will play it again.
Nice layout!
Loved the layout of the course- misses are are recoverable... I enjoyed playing here. I will play here again.
