Colorado National Golf Club

About
The golf course at the Colorado National Golf Club is an 18-hole, public course that is situated just 20 minutes north of Denver. Jay Morrish designed the formerly known as Vista Ridge golf course with a traditional links-style layout. The course covers 7,676 yards of golf from its longest tees and plays to a par of 72. Rolling fairways lined with native grasses and large, undulating greens make the golf course interesting, while beautiful views of snow-topped mountains provide pleasant scenery. The course has many bunkers as well as water hazards. Colorado National Golf Club also features five sets of tee boxes for golfers to work on a number of different handicaps.

Spring Golf
Colorado National was in spring conditions, with some green grass starting to show up in the fairways. Greens were smooth and fast, IMO. Lots of workers out addressing the irrigation system so likely to turn on soon. Course is still cart path only, which makes rounds a bit longer, and legs more tired. I believe it to be one of the better layouts in the area. You have doglegs left and right, shots uphill and downhill, lots of sand traps (which were nicely filled with sand and soft), and shots over water and natural areas. Price is reasonable for the quality of course in the area. Nice restaurant with wide selection of choices. Huge driving range with lots of targets to shoot for.
Great hot deal rate and great course
Always a good time at CN, but as always the pace of play is >>4.5 hours
Very good course.
This is a very good course. Very challenging but not unfair. It’s March, so the current conditions are a little rough, but so is every other course in the metro area. Staff is helpful and friendly. Practice facility is also very good. This course should be in your rotation.
Pro Shop could learn some manners
Love the course and the greens were flawless. However the pro shop tends to be overly rude. I couldn’t get thru a sentence let alone answer the guys questions without being consistently interrupted. Each person in our foursome had the same experience.
Pristine condition! Looks easy but it’s not.
This course is in excellent condition, super fast greens. Ball will roll a lot in fairways but the rough will stop it dead. It’s best to sacrifice distance and be always on the fairways. This was our first time playing here and the course kicked our butt. Will definitely play again if possible since we are from Texas. 100% recommended, challenging course.
Very nice championship course
2nd time playing Colorado National, it is well worth the trip , the clubhouse is very nice and fairly upscale, the pro shop well stocked and a very professional and accommodating staff. Nice putting green and practice facility, although could only hit off the mats for practice on this trip.
Course is championship level with 4-5 tees for all levels of play. Layout is very nice with all holes being unique, fairways well maintained and greens overall were large kept up well. Several of the greens were not in the best shape but 90% of them in very good shape. Hole placements were very challenging. Several water holes very pretty as well as the mountain backgrounds.
We enjoyed this very much. The natural environment and landscaping very nice and professional made it great. Several homes the lakes were drying up . Be sure you take some water with you as backup. It is a dry environment and very sunny in the high altitude. Well worth the trip . Yo will enjoy the course very much.
Poor condition for money; ridiculous pacing
Greens were inconsistent and generally not in as good of condition as to be expected from such a pricey and esteemed course. We were on pace for about 4:20 for the round and were told by the morning marshal that if we didn’t pick it up, they would force us to skip a hole. This was in the middle of a par 5 with nobody on the tee either.
Overall a pretty disappointing experience
Not Good
Colo National is a great layout, normally in very good condition. Not so this time. We haven't played there in a couple of months and boy was it in bad shape.
Aeration aside, the tee boxes were torn up, lots of dessicated/torn up areas in the fairways as well. All in all, it just doesn't look like they are watering it.
The good news is we paid a discounted rate, but honestly if the little things don't improve, it won't be worth that. One of the bathrooms was in disrepair, one was closed.
It did not look like a ton of effort was being put in, hope it gets better.
Meanwhile, be ready for every shot that hits the fairway to run through to the rough, lots of bare, hard spots to deal with.
Thank you Colorado National
We've been playing this course for a long time since the Vista Ridge days and the neighborhood has changed a lot but the golf remains great. Thanks to the staff and crew for helping to make it a great day!
