Quirky course!

First time playing Newburgh-on-ythan. Quirky course, and two very different 9s. Throughly enjoyable, and in very good condition for this time of year. I’ll be back in summer, to try again.

Dissapointed

Was advised the course was on summer greens. On arrival it was obvious the course was on winter greens for no apparent reason. The winter tees were well infront of the normal tees meaning the course overall played about half the total yardage which completely ruined the experience.

Windy weather
Walked

Good introduction to links golf

Solid course with great views of the estuary. Front 9 is newer and greener with back 9 the original course amongst the dunes. Given the recent weather the back 9 was a little boggy in parts but very playable. Greens in good condition. Everyone playing seemed friendly and pace of play was excellent. Will definitely be back.

Good test - especially back nine

Great welcome from the youngster in the pro shop. Front nine much easier although quite hilly so make a score here as the back is around the estuary is quality old schools links with plenty of blind shots from both tee and for approach - tough especially into the wind - Greens in very good condition .

Interesting course in great setting

Front 9 is newer and greener, back 9 is low on the dunes, sandier, and waterlogged in some areas following the recent very wet weather. All playable though and greens in surprisingly good condition. Everyone we met was friendly. Look forward to coming back.

Great Links Course

Played on a bright winters day, very bad weather previous 2 days though credit to the greenkeepers as we were able to play on the summer greens. A good challenging course especially the back 9 though suits all levels of

The course is under new ownership and green staff.
Playing like a true championship links, would highly recommend a round. Greens are amazing!

Good course, poor greens.

Friendly welcome in the pro shop, I was booked to go off later and was allowed to go out earlier, it's almost 2 completely different 9 holes, 1st 9 hilly, up and down, 2nd 9 flatter with some blind tee shots aiming at poles, which makes it interesting the 1st you play them, this was my first visit.
Good laid out course, the only problem were the greens, they were very poor, I'd rate them 4 out of 10 , which is a shame as its the only thing that let's the course down.

Too many Forvie estuary walkers strolling down the fairways.

This was the first time in almost twenty years I had played this course. It is a decent challenge although winter greens are in play.
What has put us off from going back is the amount of strollers who take great delight in dawdling down the eighth, ninth and eleventh fairways with absolutely no regard to folk playing golf. The couple in front of us and ourselves had issues with strollers who were taking videos of us shouting Fore and asking them to get out of the way. I would suggest the club committee take note and monitor the situation as I believe the club has had financial issues recently and strollers may be part of the reason folk aren’t playing the course.

Cracking Little Course.

I much preferred the front 9 as the back 9 is still struggling from the bad weather of late. Very enjoyable round with some challenging holes. Greens were superb.

Great value. Great views

First time playing here and a solo round. I found it quite tough. It’s not a long course and the weather was about perfect. But there are quite a few blind shots from the fairway. There are some markers on most holes but if you’re on the wrong side of the fairway then you can’t see them and have no idea where you’re going. A couple times I thought I was laying up and dropped it short in the trouble. Read many concerns about the green conditions. I thought they were excellent. Tee boxes were good as were fairways. Bunkers were hard. If you want to play a links style course, with some nice views and don’t want to burst the bank, give this a go.
