Spey Valley Golf Course

About
Spey Valley's signature hole is the fifth, the longest hole in Scotland at 635 yards. However, several other holes deserve a mention for their natural beauty. The sixth spans a lake, which has been adopted as a nesting site by a bird colony.
The 12th is the start of the home stretch, where the Spey Valley opens up like a film set. The most spectacular of all is likely Spey Valley Golf Course's 18th, with its two bunkers designed to mirror the undulating corries of the mountains beyond.

Pace of play
Fantastic course - great condition as always but the pace of play was horrendous
Considered walking off after 4 holes took 75 minutes.
The course was busy but 2 groups in front did nothing to speed up the round (all standing round one ball etc)
Also took far too long teeing off
Very frustrating
My best round of golf to date
Loved this course and during my month-long stay in the area, I played this one the most - about 4 times. On my 4th time, I knew the course well enough to get my best round of golf in my life.
Positives: Great staff, well-maintained course, great hitting range, walkable course, good pace, and beautiful views.
Negative: Only one and not really that bad. It is a LONG walk from the first hole to the second tees, but you are warned ahead of time. If you have a group behind you with buggies and you are walking, you might want to just let them through.
Great challenge
Staff were really accommodating, course was a real challenge but an enjoyable round
Awesome golfing in Aviemore
I really enjoyed this one - first of all because the course is stunning and in great conditions. But secondly also because I didn't even intend to play. I spend some nights at the MacDonalds Resort next to the course and learned by the friendly staff that as hotel guest I can play the course for 45.-, plus play for free the 9 hole par 3/4 course next to the championship course. The staff was very helpful in enabling me playing both courses, the rental equipment was in top conditions, and the clubhouse is modern and pretty. The championship course is truly stunning with a river flowing on one side and a few (rich in birds) lakes in the middle of the course. Greens in very good conditions as well.
Wonderful Golf Experience
The course is in great shape considering the time of year!, tee boxes excellent, fairways very good, great bunkers and greens in very good condition…they had been punched two weeks ago and have filled in nicely, currently medium speed and a little crusty but very playable! I would expect in another week or so they will be excellent! The course layout makes for a fun and interesting challenge. For first time players strongly suggest a buggy as there are a number of holes that needs to be previewed.
The pro shop staff extremely friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience and definitely will be back!
stunning!
Stunning course....beautiful greens...
Fantastic staff...
Definitely will be on my golfing radar for next
trek up north...
Many Thanks
Great course
A gem of a course for sure. Have been waiting to play this course for a while now and was not disappointed. The course is in a great condition and I would rate the greens 7 out of 10. Will definitely be back soon.
Great track
Longer than most. Layout was outstanding. Very good shape.
Tough trek
Played this course a few times now and never manage a good score. It's a tough trek. Ideal for the big hitters. Wind blowing, so makes it tougher. Proper golf course
Beautiful weather, challenging course
27 degrees a bit on the hot side in such an exposed area but course was well designed and entertaining. Longer than we anticipated and make sure to hire a buggy. Only gripe we would have is that as first timers without a map we missed a couple of the dog leg holes until after we had hit driver. Watch out of the 18th, we had a bunch of cyclists who cycled right in front of (despite signage) us just as were about to drive - could’ve been nasty!
Spey valley
Excellent course and good value for money, great views of Cairngorms
Dormant
Course had nor recovered from a long winter when we played it (16/4/21), the grass being almost completely dormant. Will be better in the summer no doubt.
Excellent value
Greens very good, tough pins !!! Tees a wee bit rough. The heather is penal - avoid at all times. Par 3s tough, long irons / hybrids to all. Long walk but beautiful surroundings and I was round in just over 3 hours so that was good..
