What a shame.. All bunkers are in need of major work. Photo submitted by dirtyfrank007 on 08/17/2021

My closest course. Been playing here on and off for years. It’s early season, so I’m hoping things improve. But the fairways were awful. Bald spots, hard pan, way too much. The cart and cart paths…horrible. No holes on the inconveniently placed putting green. No approach yardage sticks. Some markers in the fairway, but the color was gone. No rakes in the traps. Many fallen trees in the mostly grass-less rough. Tee boxes and greens were good. No senior discount on weekends. Priced like a much better course. It played like an overused public golf course, the way it did years ago.
Dyker rolling quite nice
Props to the team at Dyker managing the greens .. bunkers and fairway solid also.
good greens
The course is much better now, bunkers sandy and rolled greens. This is a very busy course my 11:30am to 4:30p round is par for the course according to locals
My Grandfather’s Old Track.
I come here once per year as a tribute to my Grandfather and I believe he is worth 3-4 strokes.
absolutely unacceptable
I want to like this course. I like this course. But this Saturday August 10th was absurd.
You cannot have NO starter and people stealing carts and skipping the line. You can't be backed up 45 minutes off the first tee. I've seen a lot of stuff at NYC public courses but I have never seen 45 minutes BEFORE NOON even on a weekend.
You cannot have 8+ fewer carts than you need... if you account for your 7am tee times being ridiculous and playing 5 hours rounds like every other city course then you'd have the carts to get people in the order of their tee time up to an actual starter who does their job. Every other city course does this. Some of the starters are mean and annoying. But they do an important job. How you don't have one on the weekends who ensures people are not stealing other people's tee times is beyond me.
You cannot have groups in slow motion and playing 1 ball at a time as if there is some etiquette they are following to further clog up the course.
You have rangers but they aren't saying anything to people - I am guessing their mandate is only to say something if the group in front of them is entire hole ahead. This is how you get 6 hours rounds. This is how you end up like Van Cortlandt.
This course should be better than that... even with the horrible carts (when are they replacing them? and getting more..), and some unfair rough. The bare patches aren't that bad and the greens are fine. It's really got fine bones.
But seriously this is just plain unacceptable
If I'm in for a 5.5 hour round where 3 groups will be together waiting on 17 tee........ have the carts and have some organization around the first tee. What you are doing is not working. Even Van Cortlandt doesn't get backed up on the first tee 45 minutes before noon or usually even at 2pm.
Not worth the price
First time playing. I love the nyc muni vibe with the older brooklyn guys who work there cracking jokes and quips, but today it just seemed like everybody was in a bad mood, or were just tired of dealing with the golfers. The course ain’t cheap to play, but is now sitting in with the price most courses charge in the city. The carts were in by far the worst condition of any course in the city. One man complained about his steering wheel not working, and instead of helping the staff just told him he was wrong, and then made fun of him to me when he walked away. We got to our cart and noticed immediately it had no brakes, which we had to deal with the entire round. When we returned the cart, we flagged this to the staff member and another golfer who was supposed to use our cart, and the staff member just laughed and said “that’s how it goes sometimes”. We walked away when the golfer was trying to convince her this was an actual problem. Even though we knew the brakes were broken after using it for 5 hours, she was trying to convince the new patron that they should just take the cart.
Overall the golf course is satisfactory but nothing super interesting and it’s definitely not in the best condition. You can’t help but compare this to the other muni’s at this price point, and Forest Park, Marine Park, to name a couple are much better, in my opinion.
It’s a Sunday afternoon in nyc so pace of play issues are to be expected.
Positives were they had “cart girl” with cocktails and good food options, and the inside facility was comfortable with a lot of space.
Hope this place can help improve itself instead of blaming the patrons for complaining about baseline issues.
Too many tee times
Too many players in the course, each hole has about three waiting groups, so I just played 8 holes that took me around 4 hours.
Bad management
Pace of play is usually good if you get out before 8am but the last time out they sent out a large private group to do a shot gun start while people were already out playing on the course. It caused a massive back up and the round took 6+ hours. Starter was not friendly at all and made me drive in a cart with a stranger. How are you going to charge $79 and pull that? Bad management decision overall.
Sunday mid-day round
I very much enjoyed playing Dyker beach once I finally got onto the course. I had a noon tee time on a Sunday and expected the course to be busy but was taken aback at how unprepared the course was for a nice sunday afternoon. After waiting 15 minutes for a cart I then had to wait another 15 minutes to even tee off. My round finally started but again I was waiting at every shot because of slow play in front of me. The front 9 ended up taking 3.5 hours! I would recommend the course but not on a busy sunday
Not worth it
Paid for a art didn't get one. Teed off an hour and twenty minutes after tee time. Stood behind 6 four somes before tee off. If I had waited an hour I would have gotten a car . Paid for 18 could only play 9.
