Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2020.
Situated along the shores of Canandaigua Lake, Bristol Harbor is in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine country. Robert Trent Jones designed the golf course in 1972. The layout practically offers two courses with a front nine that showcases lakefront views and a back nine that plays through the forest. The front nine is also composed of links-style holes as opposed to the tighter holes on the back nine. The golf course plays longer than the 6,662 yards indicated on the scorecard thanks to a variety of different challenges. There are plenty of bunkers strategically placed along the greens and be prepared for some tricky uphill shots. The signature hole is the par-4 14th. This scenic hole is set in a deep gorge within the Bristol Hills, creating a dramatic drop in elevation from the fairway to the green.

Todd Cook is a Scumbag
Some people with money have no shame. What a great course that has been cast in a bad light because the Cooks can’t have a hotel so they tear down the course. What a classless family!
Hirams review
Excellent course. Demands all clubs in your bag. Conditions are first rate. Practice facility outstanding. Staff very friendly and courteous. Would probably be a member of distance from home weren’t an issue
Course was in great shape
Had a 4 hour round. Didn’t have to wait on the group ahead of us more than a time or two and we were a 2some. Beautiful, challenging layout bunkers are in great shape and the greens were excellent too. Will definitely recommend and play again here !
A nice resort course on the lake.
The course was in great shape overall. The greens were perfect and rolled true. The fairways were cut and trimmed with care and detail even for October. The members playing seemed slightly entitled, with a twosome out of a foursome that just came off eighteen rolled up to one and took my tee time. Another foursome I came up on around fourteen kept looking back at me like I was slenderman stalking them, I drove back to ten where it was less busy. But the course conditions were great and it was a perfect day so five stars from me.
A nice resort course
Bristol Harbor is a nice resort type golf course. Most everything is above average, the well kept tee boxes and greens, the carpet like fairways, carts with GPS, etc. Even the port-a-potties are spotless and have sinks and flush- better than most bathrooms in clubhouses. There are multiple practice areas and the driving range is divot-free and a pleasure to practice on. Your money is no good here, its a cashless place everything including the cart girls accept only cards.(?) I really enjoyed the round the course is terrific in my opinion.
A twosome should never hold up a foursome
The courses was in decent shape, but the pro shop is just a counter in the deli. The restaurant was very understaffed, we got a drink and ended up leaving before lunch because we hadn’t even been approached by a server (and this was a Friday afternoon).
I’m not sure which they care less about, the golf experience or the restaurant experience.
Special treat
The golf course and the staff were excellent making it well worth the drive for a special day. However, their dining room wasn’t open on Mondays and there’s not much nearby for a nice meal. The location overlooking the lake is nice but the golf holes really don’t overlook the lake.
Great time on nice coirse
We arrived late and the pro shop was very friendly and fit us in which we appreciated. They did not have a beverage cart on the. course. The dining room is closed on Monday and there is not other restaurants nearby.
The GPS on the cart was helpful and we were lucky to have perfect weather.
Great conditions. Tough greens Have to play several time to really work out club selections
Can’t wait to play again
Awesome layout and views. Play from the blues can be humbling
Top Notch Playing Conditions
By far the best maintained public course in Western NY. Fairways, greens, bunkers (always hand raked ) in perfect condition. Played mid-July and impressed how green and LUSH course was. Fairway bunkers with the tall Links style grass absolutely beautiful, and challenging.
Kudos to maintenance staff!!
