Old Hickory Country Club

About
Old Hickory Country Club in Beaver Dam is situated on land that was used simply as pasture for grazing cattle and sheep before it was transformed into a basic, but interesting nine-hole golf course by Scottish designer Tom Bendelow. Seeing the potential of the terrain, the course was later expanded into 18 holes by Robert Greaves. The golf course originally opened for play in 1920, which has given it plenty of time to mature into the challenging course it is today. Towering oak and hickory trees line the fairways and there are 30 bunkers strategically placed throughout the golf course, most heavily along the greensides. The gently rolling terrain provides subtle but tricky contours. Long, straight drives will be generously rewarded at Old Hickory Country Club, and accuracy is also essential for doing well.

Well maintained course. The value you receive is by far greater than the cost. My dad's (90 yrs. old) favorite course.
Goood time with friends.
Beautiful layout, course was in great shape greens fast and true. Weather very nice for late October. Only few holes had leaf problem, expected for time of year. Will be back.
Love this Course
I love this course for its beauty and challenges. The holes are varied in challenge and allow success for experienced or average players; might be too long a course for new golfers with little experience.

Interesting course has more blind elevation and dogleg holes then a typical Wisconsin layout. Challenging but fun. Friendly staff. Ball and club washer on carts is nice.GPS ads were a bit obnoxious.
Course in great shape
Overall the course is in great shape. Greens are in the best shape I’ve seen anywhere this year. Entire course could use a rolling though. Their carts are also very annoying - slow you down to an insufferable crawl when you get close to just about anything, and beep annoyingly if you creep along
Great place
Great facilities. Course was great. Tee boxes were the only knock. Will return
Another Gem in Wisconsin
What is not to like... A great layout with 5 sets of tees, & more combinations of tees outlined on the scorecard. Beginner / youth / shorter hitter play the front most green tees, you will be in a position on every hole to have fun. Up for more of a challenge? Combine the white and silver tees to play the "hickory combination" outlined on the scorecard. Low handicap player?" play the back (blue tees) and be ready to be challenged. This course has faster than average greens that have consistent speeds from hole to hole, old growth trees, demanding tee shots, small to medium size well protected greens.
Play the tees appropriate for your skill level and anyone beginner to expert can play this course.
Great course as usual
Fantastic course as usual, friendly staff all around. That goes for proshop, bar, and bev cart lady.
