Nice Course, Needs Work
This course is in a beautiful area and cold be really enjoyable to play here. Biggest issue is the condition of the course. Between tee boxes, fairways and greens, nothing was really in great shape.
Tee boxes and fairways had patchy crabgrass all over. I found myself hitting off dirt while in the fairways in some places because of how patchy it was.
Greens were also in rough shape.
There are some really nice holes here and the course has good potential. #1 has a nice carry over a lake. #2 is a nice par 3 with a good elevation drop. #8 and 9 are really nice holes with great elevation changes.
But then you have #4 which is an uphill dogleg and the fairway was barely mowed to the point that I had no idea where to hit my first or second shots.
Classic
Staff is welcoming and helpful. Course is tucked into natural landscape and cared for. Straightforward with some challenging shots, especially into 6, 7 & 9. Fun for everyone.
Good but not great
Course is in decent shape, play was reasonable, very slow greens. Price was great for a sunday afternoon $15 per with cart for 18 holes. Only complaint is that when I called to confirm my tee time the staff did not mention there was a league tournament with a shotgun start at 1 pm and the play behind my 3 some was very pushy. Had to stop in between a hole 9-10 and wait for them.to end. The first tee was backed up with 7 carts waiting to play we didn't tee off until 315 when we had a 240 tee time
Great Value
It is what it is. A mature 9 hole course at in the wooded hills. The greens and fairways were in excellent condition but the tee boxes needed some work. The golf carts are older but were in decent shape. For the price it's a great place. I would go back.
try it you will like it
great place to play for beginner intermediate or advanced player.i played in a foursome two of us are beginners one is intermediate one advanced we all had a great time.i got a hole in one.first one ever.
A great bargain via Golf Now! Worth the ride!
This is gem of a 9 hole course! The first time around it took it's toll on my score. Blind shots, sharp dog legs and quirky par threes make this a challenging day of golf. The greens were fast and really required the time to examine each putt. The rough is rough!. Stay out of it and your scores will benefit. Wonderful vistas ,elevated tee boxes, and trees (lots of them) hundreds of years old lend to the charm. If you go play 18 holes the second nine will let the secrets reveal themselves. I highly recommend this choice for anyone who would also enjoy the added benefit of a scenic trip to the Catskills.
Great views of the Gunks!
Nice 9 hole couse. Plays the same tees for an 18 hole round. Had a great time on this course. Very friendly & welcoming staff on hand. We did not try the restuarant, but some patrons said that the food was good. During the week get there by 2:00 to avoid league play.
scenic course with views of mountains
greatt course played 18 holes w/cart for $16 enjoyed playing w/locals who knew the course
Shawangunked
A nice layout. A couple of challenging holes. You play the same nine the second time around because the tees are not different. I liked the course and would play it again.
1st time out
Very friendly staff met me with a cart at my car when I arrived. Expected us through Golfnow and got right out. The course was in great shape for early April and the greens were super.
I will definitely return again and will make a trip in the fall to play this course at the base of the mountain!
